The thing that has me cautiously optimistic about the Dodgers signing a good starter better then McCarthy is that you don't trade Haren and sign McCarthy only to have a plan to sign a starter that slots behind McCarthy, cause then why not just keep Haren at 1 year, 10 mil? I doubt Miami was really wanting Haren since they know there's a legit chance he retires, they wanted the money more then him. Just some thoughts

That trade is interesting and I wondered if the league office would review it. If Haren retires we essentially paid cash to get some minor league players along with sending Gordon and Rojas. Wouldn't a straight up Gordon, Rojas and 10 million have prompted a league review>?
