I'm gonna try to stay out of this thread. Too much chagrin and negativity for me lately...LOL on that note because I agree, looks like a possible 1 win for us series with the pitching matchups.
2 out of 3 against the Nats gives me some hope against the Braves, although this part of our pitching rotation is not exactly confidence inspiring. I hope Ryu has a great game, but I still say this guy is a very high priced, barely over .500 pitcher. And we must consider our offense, which although getting it done in the last 4/5, leaves the pitching staff always walking a tightrope. Just dealing with Kemp now as a singles hitter is a huge adjustment. I just don't see anything more than that from Ryu, espcially against a team like Atlanta. We have always battled with these douches, they were always a thorn in our side, going back to their days of Chip Caray and perm- headed Don Sutton. And beyond. When they were in the NLW, epic battles , man. And maybe the Tomahawk Chop and Jane Fonda had something to do with the hatred....when you remember (I know most of you young uns don't) the photo of her sitting astride a NVA anti aircraft gun, jutting out from her crotch like a giant penis, way back in the day. Shit , even Ted could only take her for a while....then bye-bye.
I like him too. But in reality, it is what it is, IMO; he certainly knows how to pitch. I think we have to remember this is not Korean League baseball. I like Matt , too....but the disappointment is startling... it's just that way. I will give you that being an above .500 pitcher with the LAD these days , is an accomplishment. Ryu= 36 M....probably a bargain or very OK , eventually... Beckett on fake DL= fucking priceless
Ryu has been awesome and better than I expected, listening to Keith Law you would have expected this guy to get blasted for 10 runs an inning. Ryu was a really good pickup.
With roughly 72-75 starts by Ryu, Kershaw and Greinke the rest of the way, I feel they have to win at least 45 of them for this team to have a shot to get back in this. For the record, by "win" I mean the Dodgers have to win the game, not necessarily that the pitch has to get the win.
