If the Giants get him, it will be a hard smack in the mouth.
I can see Lester being impressed with Bochy though, without any jokes or sarcasm at all; the guy is about as proven a winner these days as there is in BB. On a manager's level anyway. Compared to DBB , it's no lo contendere.
    Wow...crushing news.

I started to vote they would trade Kemp, but decided it would be too early. That trade won't go down for several weeks. Yes, I'm saying he will be traded.

funny when you think about it...
if you were the giants, and were trying to lure a certain player, having them speak with bochy would be a powerful selling ploy -- perhaps even your ace in the hole
    now imagine you're the dodgers...
would you, at any point ever, even consider using mattingly to help seal the deal?

I hope I am wrong though

Giants Getting “Aggressive” In Pursuit Of Chase Headley
By Mark Polishuk [December 6, 2014 at 4:28pm CST]

The Giants’ interest in Chase Headley is “turning aggressive,” FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports (via Twitter). San Francisco had been linked to Headley and several other notable players in the wake of Pablo Sandoval leaving for Boston, though it appears they’ve stepped up their pursuit of Headley to fill their third base vacancy.

Headley reportedly has a four-year, $65MM offer in hand from a mystery team, a sizable bump from the four-year, $48MM that MLBTR’s Tim Dierkes predicted Headley would receive in free agency. The Marlins and Yankees have both been linked to Headley in rumors, though neither team is the one behind the $65MM offer; the Yankees, in fact, don’t seem willing to go beyond three years to sign him.

Rosenthal isn’t sure how, if at all, the Giants’ focus on Headley could impact their interest in Jon Lester, who had also been cited as Giants target in recent days. As MLBTR’s Steve Adams noted in his Giants Offseason Outlook, the team was willing to give Sandoval a deal in the $95MM range and undoubtedly had a bump in revenue from their World Series victory. If I had to guess, I’d suspect that the Giants would be able to afford both Headley and an ace-level starter like Lester if they felt the need.

    Out.

Really don't know. Just a gut feel, so call me crazy. But he's the guy that will give us the kind of return we need to get.

    They'll be OK.

They'll be hanging out in old town sampling Conchas and margaritas all week. Various flavors and colors. They want to embrace the Southern California culture. You might even see them wearing sombreros and ponchos.

not crazy. i mean i'm not so sure that they raid anybody's farm for their top/stud starter or the top bat, but i think they could get some young/talented pieces for the farm. maybe somebody's top young reliever. aside from that, a legit argument can be made that they should go with Joc in CF, Puig in right, and that SVS/CC can again produce a hell of a season together in LF.

considering that the O's pretty much pass on players who catch colds and that Melky is a better fit for the M's..i'm thinking Rangers or Padres, but hoping for the Rangers, so they can maybe get Beltre back to sorta headline the trade. Rangers have Gallo on the doorstep..sort of like us with Seager..both probably a year away more than likely. but i'm not so sure that Ethier wouldn't join Kemp..he could DH for them.

it may be time to get in this mix for old man David Ross and bring him back to where he started if the Dodgers really want Lester. Ross is Lester's guy.
