People are wayyyyyyyy to cognizant of the 'even year' thing with Giants.

They will have to overachieve or make significant changes at the trade deadline to even win the division.

it's only maddening because you don't understand :codge:
when a thread gets too big it begins taking up excess bandwidth, which slows down the entire forum
i know your not hip with technology so here's an analogy...
    you have an 8oz glass
you fill it with 1 oz each day
    in 8 days it's full
    glad you're gratefulL :grammarpolice:

The analysts on MLB Network...every one of them who picked them...their reason was literally "...and the Giants, even year." and nothing else. They'd do a whole thing justifying each of their picks for every team. And the reasoning for the Giants was "even year". Comical.

If they want to think that, great. It's hard not to when history keeps repeating itself. But as analysts, you gotta do us better than that. So damn lazy.

    No, you don't understand.

I have a TWELVE oz glass.
    I fill it every day.
    I empty it every day.
    Then, I fill it again.
So I can empty it again.
    That's how beer works.

The answer to the problem is to ditch some of those old lame ass threads that are buried and serve no useful purpose.

Is it me or are these experts forgetting the fact that the Giants are one Pence injury away from being mediocre, that Cain is a huge question mark, that Pagan can never stay healthy. They are thin.

But if I am being fair, the Gnats have one of the best managers in the league and they do have a record of success in the post-season.

But these guys are just putting way too much emphasis on that.

Several years ago we had problems with the site crashing. The problem was tracked back to threads that were 100's of pages long. Irish is doing it for technical reasons.

They have plenty of talent. Bumgarner/Cueto is an excellent 1-2 and having Posey, Pence, Belt, Panik, Duffy, Pagan, Span, along with that voodoo magic shit they have is enough to be worried about them. Especially when we got 10 guys on the DL, most of who are pretty important

Verducci: "can you imagine them missing the playoffs with that payroll? What a disaster" my god. Seriously? Top farm system in baseball and a team that all the smart money has winning a fourth straight division. I will never understand why everyone gets so fixated on payroll and ignores all the other things the team has done.

I hate how it strongly encourages teams to barely care or try.

You get a team that doesn't spend money or make pushes to be better but has a good core, let's say the Twins. And they get hardly any negative feedback compared to other teams who are trying to win. Why shouldn't the Twins get shit on for just being lame?

Imagine making fun of a player, "haha that idiot player tried really hard and sacrificed so much and spent a lot of money and time to get better and he only made it so far!" And then not shitting on another player who didn't work hard

Maybe that's a bad comparison but it's always been crazy to me for analysts to criticize teams who try compared to those who don't. Criticize the actual moves if you want, if it's a bad use of the money or some alternatives were better. But generally saying "wow, the payroll is this much! What losers!" Is simply criticizing for spending money

Anybody know if the "free game of the day" on MLB.TV is subject to regional blackout?

    EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out.

Like I said...:The answer to the problem is to ditch some of those old lame ass threads that are buried and serve no useful purpose.

Shit can a bunch of those threads serves the same purpose as shit canning a large one. Or even archive older sections of the large threads so the current version can live on. There ARE other solutions.

Besides, Irish sucks and he's easy to bag on.

    that wouldn't help
only when individual threads get too large the problems arise
    hence the periodic purging
again, knowing you're technologically challenged, here's another analogy...
imagine you eat burgers every fucken day
    your system backs up
you take fiber so your old ass can shit
    you shit
you go back to complaining about how things were better back in the 1920's
    problem solved :shit:

i'm gonna miss zack's periodic comments/brutal honesty almost as much as his pitching...

Greinke was frustrated by Shelby Miller trade
by Larry Brown | Yard Barker — 1 hour ago

The Arizona Diamondbacks made some big moves this offseason to turn themselves into contenders for 2016, but Zack Greinke apparently was concerned about the cost of one of the moves.

Signing Greinke was the biggest transaction by Arizona, as they committed $205 million to the former Dodgers pitcher. The second-biggest move was acquiring Shelby Miller in a trade with the Braves. Though Miller has been a good starter the past three seasons, his addition came at a hefty price; Arizona gave up former No. 1 overall draft pick Dansby Swanson, as well as other prospects Ender Inciarte and Aaron Blair, to get him.

According to a Bill Shaikin article in the Los Angeles Times, Greinke was “frustrated and disappointed” by how much the D-backs gave up in the trade.

The Diamondbacks weakened their depth, by a little or by a lot, with the Miller trade. Greinke was said by friends to be frustrated and disappointed at how much talent the Diamondbacks lost in getting Miller. Greinke, asked whether he liked the trade, deflected the question without a yes or no.

If giving Greinke $205 million through his age 37 season wasn’t enough of a sign that Arizona’s front office was making questionable moves, then the Miller trade certainly sealed that sentiment.

The good news is the Diamondbacks should be competitive this season. The bad news is they weakened their minor league system for the future. Of course, when it comes to Greinke, we all know what his real motivation is.

    Nice side step.

how was what i said a side step?
when individual threads get to big they begin hogging bandwidth
your suggestion to delete/archive other older threads have nothing to do with that and would not lessen the problem in any way
only other solution would be to purchase more bandwidth
if you're not planning on writing a check then that's not an option
i think you forget -- none of us get paid to do this
so we do the best we can with what we have

side note: what did you think of jim herman's win yesterday?
i thought it was pretty special
definitely a life changer whether he contends again or not
    those exemptions are huge

I beg to differ, it did have something to do with that. I said archive sections of those longer threads so that the thread itself lives on. If the short dead end threads don't buy you anything, then archiving large chunks of the huge threads will. My point is you are focused on one solution. There has to be another way. Seek and ye shall find.

Golf: Those out of no where wins are great for the game IMO. You hope he uses it as a building block for future success, but that rarely happens. Still a great experience for him, and he'll never forget the thrill of winning or the chance to play perhaps the most prestigious tournament ever.

Some call me a Tiger hater, but IMO what he did for the game was clog courses with hacks without a clue and teach them to take FOR FUCKING EVER to hit a golf ball. Again, IMO, the best thing that could happen for the game of golf right now is for officials to get serious about pace of play and start handing out severe penalties for slow play. Seriously, when you start charging these prima donnas strokes in competition for slow play, you'll see one helluva change in pace.

Edit: btw, I was a Rory McAlroy fan until he pissed on the Masters Par 3 competition. Fuck him. It's a fkucking tradition, one he should be proud to be a part of, and one to kindle memories for him and fans around the world. Calling it a 'distraction' was low class and the Masters should sanction him.
