I get that but 15 more starts in that park. He just gave up a HR to Cargo and then double after that.

Got to say--watching Shawn Tolleson close games is bittersweet. Would of loved to have him in our bullpen.

I'm still frustrated by that move. I felt it did not make much sense at the time and still to this day it doesn't make any sense.

Yup, I guess they thought he had an injury he couldn't recover from and boy were they wrong

Nor does the signing of a Cuban for millions, then trade him away for Wood. Now, I don't think that Wood is uber terrible or anything, but he will give up some runs. Hard to know completely of course, how a guy will pan out eventually, but it just seems like overkill to go at it this way...for a guy that seems to be welcoming a physical breakdown from really odd mechanics. Overall, the FO has taken huge gambles on injury prone guys, imo.
    Hope I'm wrong.
...and there probably some who agree moving Tolleson was the right thing to do, I'm sure.

I agree but they balked at his back injury and I think a roster move had to be made at that time. Would have liked him in the pen as well but hey we have Coleman!!

I saw Kingman play left so you have to be real bad to top that guy. I know you were talking current players but your post made me think about that guy and the Lasorda rant after the 3 HR game. LOL.

I remember us debating this on the ESPN board and most of us were like wtf... we gave up his spot for Jarrett Martin? Yes, he was injured that year and had spent most of the season in Glendale but he was solid as hell when he was healthy. Thought he should of been given a shot to at least prove it in spring training.

Not like puzzling things weren't going on in that FO at all that year.

    Overview

The L.A. front office continues to eschew typical big-budget spending patterns, loading up on depth while prioritizing flexibility and young talent over major investments in proven commodities. Pitching injury risk was unquestionably accounted for, but the team’s roster construction theories will be put to the test early and often in 2016. Whether or not this somewhat experimental approach will work promises to be one of the game’s most-watched storylines.

This is the conclusion of the Offseason Outlook for the Dodgers at Mlbtraderumors. Go check it out.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Eligible to return to the Los Angeles Dodgers' roster this weekend, the 2016 debuts of both Howie Kendrick and Yasmani Grandal will wait until the first homestand next week.

The Dodgers have sent Kendrick to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga for a rehab assignment that begins Thursday night, while Grandal will head to Double-A Nashville in order to get him closer to his return. Both remained at the team's spring training complex at Glendale, Arizona, when the team broke camp for the regular season.

“[Kendrick] is going to DH, he’s going to play a game at third and a couple of games at second base,” manager Dave Roberts said Thursday morning. “He’s moving along. It’s realistic to expect him back on our active roster on Tuesday.”

Kendrick dealt with two separate injuries this spring. He had a sore groin early in camp and closed the spring with a sore calf that forced him to the disabled list. His DL stint was back dated to March 25.

Grandal was bothered by a sore right forearm that landed him on the DL, back dated to March 25 as well. Roberts was asked why Grandal got the Nashville assignment, as opposed to a local one.

“It was just more of the competition,” Roberts said. “He’s had a lot of at-bats against guys in Arizona and it was to get him out [to a change of scenery]. We felt comfortable flying him to Nashville and getting him back to L.A. We didn’t think too much about it; we just wanted to raise the level of competition for him. And with Howie we didn’t concern ourselves with that too much.”

Kendrick could be in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s home opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks, either at second or third base.

Roberts already has decided that A.J. Ellis will be the catcher for the home opener, receiving pitches from scheduled starter Kenta Maeda. Grandal’s first start of the season could come Wednesday, with Alex Wood expected to pitch.

You know what's funny? If Greinke were pitching this bad for the Dodgers on that huge deal, people would be freaking out.
