Don't want to dredge up this argument, but it's far from a no-brainer, because it affects more than just one body. It affects the body of the fetus that is being terminated. The pro-life side views the fetus as alive, and therefore being murdered.

Not coming in on one side or the other here, but hardly a no brainer.

TPP was a stupid mess anyway.
A free trade deal among the US, Australian and NZ without all the other crazy rules makes much more sense.

Credit where credit is due on this one for Trump. But for liberals it's like when the Angels beat the Giants in the WS - confusing times.

Clinton was also against the TPP, although not with the same fervor as Trump. She probably wanted the deal to stick it to New Zealand more.

I will merge this with the politics thread soon enough. That was always the plan.

In the meantime, I sparked a debate on abortion. I suggest you hop on board, abortion debates are always fun.

I doubt I have much to add to that discussion. I'm pro anything that stops a crying fucking kid when I'm trying to enjoy my lunch. I think you should be able to abort up until they become 18, in case you raise an asshole.

    I'm serious too.

I was being sarcastic when I said abortion debates are fun, but damnit if you didn't prove me wrong. This is a whole new take that I honestly hadn't considered.

Same goes for the VAXXER argument. Should GOV have the ability to impose we inject our children with chemicals?

    I say no.
But at the same time, I think you're an idiot and a bad parent if you don't vaccinate your kids. But I want to live in a free country where people are free to be idiots.

BTW...this would be less of a problem if we had a voucher system for schools with a marketplace for education instead of a choice between crappy government schools and ridiculously overpriced private ones....then people could choose their schools based on vax policy. If you don't want to vaxx your kid, go to the no vaxx school and get the measels. If you do, go to the normie school and stay healthy.

It's more about where you draw the line between a parent's right to parent how they want vs the rights of the child. I think most would agree there is a line somewhere (except NZ). I migh be wrong, but I believe in most places of the US you are not required by the government to vaccinate children - and most forced vaccinations have been implemented in areas only after breakouts of disease (someone can correct me if that's wrong).

In your plan I imagine no vaxx schools would be unpopular, so what happens if you live in an area with no no vaxx schools? Or better yet, what if you want a no vaxx, pro-evolution, abstinence only school? What if you don't want your kid to get an education at all?

I dont like the idea of sending your children to be educated by the state.
    Private school or home school.
Best is how rich and famous do with private tutors like back in the day.
Most of what they teach in school does not need all those years to learn.
Teach him the basics, then start asking him what he wants to be when he grows up.
Then set him up with a tutor that knows about that field.
    Then another, and another, etc...
Once he becomes a man he should have the knowledge and experience to work in the field he apprenticed in.
If not he will have the capacity to work or train in any field he chooses.
Or better yet work for himself so he has time to learn for himself.

Might consider aborting the parents at some point too.

US Citizens are guaranteed FAPE by the GOV, which is Free and Appropriate Public Education. The constitution says nothing about holding that ransom in exchange for injecting your kids with chemicals that may cause mental disorders. BTW, my son, who is autistic was vaccinated and attends a private specialized school. I am not blaming the VAX either, just saying.

Funny thing about abortion, the pro life side generally are from the right. The same people (generally) support the death sentence. A bit of a contraction, and obviously and generalisation on my part.

What if the ransom protects public health, and wouldn't a threat to public health impose on another child's right to FAPE? Do you think the health concerns are exaggerated? What is an alternate plan?

I'm not attacking, just asking. Every state has laws pertaining to this (some more strict than others), so it's a widely adopted idea that vaccination is important for children before attending a public school.
