We had a better team OPS last season and have a better one to start this season.

Strasburg got pushed back, it's Kershaw/Detwiler and Stras/Bills

They have a more balanced lineup than us on paper. At least talent wise. Obviously they have some guys underachieving (What's Zimmerman slugging right now?) at this point but that's a good lineup over there and they are capable of putting up runs. If Kemp and Ethier struggle in the slightest we are in trouble.

Didn't say we will get blown out but even putting a 4 spot on us makes it tough.

So you'd prefer our lineup to theirs?

A lot of weight on James Loney. I mean...having a 5 hitter is just as important as Kemp and Dre doing what they do. Don't know how many times he's come up with guys on base, but he always seems to pop it up. At least drive a single up the middle. We aren't asking you to hit a grand slam every AB.

For 2012? In a heartbeat. I think they have guys with upside (Espinosa, Ramos) who are more valuable than our guys, but this year our lineup will play better.

I'm going on Friday. That's too bad as far as hype is concerned. WOuld have been a great matchup but I suppose they have a better chance of winning on Friday now.

The way I look at is now we face Detwiler instead of Jordan Zimmerman. I'm happy with that!

Lols. Team outside of Ethier and Kemp is hitting like 210/290/300.

We are averaging 3 runs a game against teams not named the Padres. Not that impressive considering how hot Kemp and Ethier have been.

Outside of Jordan and Pippen the Bulls win no championships. You can't just say "outside of two of the best 10 hitters in the National League the lineup isn't very good."

Basketball and Baseball are apples and oranges though. Baseball is much more of a team sport than baskeball is. Two players playing as well as Kemp and Ethier don't make up for a team hitting 210.

Not the point. The point is you can't say "outside of Kemp and Ethier we're a worse lineup than Team X" because inside of Kemp and Ethier we aren't. Why are we not including them lol? That's nonsensical.

That's not what I'm saying, I'm saying outside of them the lineup is trash. And neither one of them is going to sustain this (obviously), so what's your objection?

I'm not saying we're the 27 Yankees, what I'm saying is our team is built around our two best hitters. Other teams are balanced. That doesn't make them better. Just because their 6-8 is better than ours doesn't always make up for the fact that our 3 and 4 blow theirs out of the water.

Outside of Jordan an Pippen, the Bulls don't win Championships
Without Ethier and Kemp, the Dodgers don't win games. Heck, we barel beat bad teams when they are at their absolute best!

Not only is that not a good analogy, because the NBA is the most star driven sport out there, it is wrong. Wennington, Rodman, Armstrong, Grant....MJ and Pippen had a great supporting cast.

Yes, we CAN INDEED say outside Kemp and Ethier the lineup isn't very good. Because Loney plays 1st, Ellis 2nd, Ellis C, Uribe 3B, Rivera LF. Collective GARBAGE. You can't have 2 stars, and then garbage.

I get it. AJ is a nice guy to have. Certain guys do certain things well. But let's be real. All these less than middle of the pack players COMBINE to make poop. It is a 2 man show. MJ's Bulls (even though a bad example anyways) was NOT a 2 man show.

I think the point is that we're going to have a harder time producing runs when the offense relies on two players so heavily. If other player aren't getting on base -- and in general they really aren't -- then Kemp and Ethier have no one to drive in.
