Just a couple of downer thoughts from the last couple of days.

Bellinger is essentially Joc Pederson, minus the platoon. .220-.240 hitter, who can put up 20-30 homers in a season. Only real difference is Pederson strikes out chasing shit, and Bellinger strikes out on shit over the plate. Not sure which way is better.

In regards to Seager. In a decade I will still be saying Kershaw was the best prospect I ever followed from the draft. Very good player, happy to have him, awesome guy. But just won't be in the same class. Then again, not many ever will.

Gonzo is fucking DONE. I enjoyed ragging on the guy because it was the cool thing. And with Bellinger in the wings, it was fun to rag on every mistake in the hopes that Cody gets a look. Now Cody is up getting reps regardless, I was really hoping he would start hitting well. If he was, huge advantage for us. But the guy is shit, and possibly slower than Benji Molina was.

I miss Justin Turner, and so does the team. We've done very well without him, but it's just so much more comfortable for me with him on the field. Class act.

After all the taint licking, reality comes crashing down all around us.
Guys do well, like Maeda, Wood, McCarthy, and Hill, then after a short time, all hit the damn DL, again and again. Relentlessly. And Urias definitely needs work.
Idk if this kind of rotation is WS bound, and although we have faired well in the past with this walking wounded situation for a few seasons, it worked, imo, because we really didn't have to deal with anyone except the Giants...but we sure do now. At the 1/3 mark of the season, I think some kind of consistent rotation needs to jell pretty soon. The depth of pitching is great, but is it enough?
It was only a matter of time before the rest of the NLW got it together.
The Brewers will be tough, hopefully Clayton is Clayton, and will get us off on the right foot.

2 days later and the sky is falling? Come on.
We're not a perfect team. But neither are the Cubs, Cards, Red Sox, Yankees, Rockies, Nationals, etc.

I'm just hoping Bellinger will figure it out. The strikeouts are crazy.

Minus the 20-30HR part as well.
Bellinger has 40-50HR potential, is a level or two up with the power tool.
Chasing pitches out the zone is worse..you always wanna know that you're swinging at a strike/know that you're commanding strikes from the opposing pitcher.
Still up in the air as far as .220-.240 part as well, but he was a .270-ish guy in the minors, so there's some probability there

Seager came into the season with some health concerns, missed much of Spring Training because of them
Is he still trying to work through those? Who knows, but his off-season/pre-season was far from ideal for a 2nd year guy
Probably won't be at SS for the duration of his career, so we'll more than likely see how being eased into an easier spot defensively will effect him overall at some point
All that said, he's still at an .880 OPS, so as off as he's seemed..one hot streak and he'll be north of .900 approaching his mark from last year

Hopefully he brings his HR pop with him when he returns
He's done a ton better against LHP this year, a big gain for LAD

depressing not to score much the last two games but those are two quality starters and pretty sure we all would have taken a split in STL last week
the starter situation is a bit more troubling

Where is Rube? He should be watching this closely considering his man crush, Villar, is playing.
