    Oh, FFS
Here´s hoping he can handle the move mentally and has some poise in the post
This is all fat Joc´s fault
The Cespedes type totals and peripherals being put up by Puig in the reg-season, thumbs up, always said if he could do that I´d be on board..but it´s a new season in the post and pitching is better, so Roberts can miss me with this ¨ Marlins game a turning point ¨
We won´t see Marlins´ pitching in the post
Baseball gods have been good to us thus far, though, and the nerds/staff worked their magic with Puig..hopefully it doesn´t fizzle in OCT

McGwire keeping tabs on Judge, Bellinger
Rookie HR record holder impressed by pair of young sluggers
    by AJ Cassavell | MLB.com — 2 days ago

LOS ANGELES -- Mark McGwire arrived in Oakland in 1987, a bright-eyed rookie with a powerful swing. Before he had time to fully comprehend his status as a big leaguer, he says, he was already threatening Major League Baseball's 31-year-old rookie homer record -- held at the time by Frank Robinson and Wally Berger.

With 49 dingers that year, McGwire shattered the previous mark of 38. Thirty summers later, he's on the opposite end of the chase.

Now serving as the Padres' bench coach, McGwire spent the weekend in Los Angeles, where Dodgers rookie Cody Bellinger is making a serious run at the mark. He's hit 34 homers in his team's first 117 games. Across the country, the Yankees' Aaron Judge is even closer to McGwire, with 35 home runs.

"It's awesome to watch," said McGwire. "Think about it -- it was 31 years to the year that I broke it. Now we're in the 30th year for my record. It's pretty cool to think about. I'm a firm believer that records are meant to be broken.

"I've always said there's a potential superstar born every day. Here you are 30 years later, and you've got two superstars in the making. They have a very good chance of shattering it, and I wish them the best of luck. It's going to be cool to watch down the stretch."

McGwire's 1987 season certainly has its share of parallels to Judge and Bellinger. Like Judge, McGwire got his first taste of the big leagues with a handful of games the season before (as a third baseman, believe it or not). Like Judge, he struggled.

    McGwire, 1986: .189/.259/.377, 3 HRs, 18 games
    Judge, 2016: .179/.263/.345, 4 HRs, 27 games

As Judge has this season, McGwire used his initial callup as a springboard for his success the following year.

"I was lucky enough to get my feet wet," McGwire said. "It helped me understand what it was all about."

That said, McGwire's breakout in 1987 more closely resembles Bellinger's. After all, Bellinger didn't start raking until his April 25 callup.

Unlike Bellinger, McGwire cracked Oakland's Opening Day roster. But it wasn't until the season's third week that he was given the everyday job. With A's first baseman Rob Nelson slumping, McGwire took over on April 20. He would homer nine times in the next 16 games, and the job was his for keeps.

"I just wanted to play every day, just wanted an opportunity," McGwire said. "Next thing you know, it started happening, and I started hitting home runs. Next thing you know, I have 33 at the All-Star break, I'm making the All-Star team."

Thirty years ago on Monday, McGwire hit his 39th homer, breaking the mark set by Berger in 1930 and later equaled by Robinson in '56.

With 49 homers that year, McGwire raised the bar high enough that any challenges from Judge and Bellinger figure to come down to the wire.

If anyone knows what it's like to chase a home run record, it's McGwire.

"You don't think about it at the time," McGwire said. "You're doing something you've always dreamed about doing since you were a kid, but you're just taking every day as it comes. ... You don't have a lot of time to sit back and think and go, 'Oh my gosh.' Because it's an everyday job. It wasn't until the end of the season, I sat back and was like, 'Wow.'"

Thirty years later, Judge and Bellinger are making baseball fans from coast to coast utter the very same word.

    spot on
would have personally preferred to keep puig in the 8 spot
but like you said this is on joc
of course this could be quickly resolved by sending his inept fat ass to okc and replacing him with someone hungry and competent...

Guess I´m sorta the unofficial captain of the SS Fat Joc, I had to call it out earlier this year, I couldn´t take it anymore.
Joc ate all my fucks [no homo]..had no more fucks to give.
Fella showed up this year at least 10-15 lbs overweight and just extremely noticeable too.
Just a fail of a season from the start in terms of consistency and professionalism..and even worse, he teased us with 2 and 3 week stretches of mashing because that probably was a big factor in keeping Verdugo in AAA, so he fucked us long and hard in perhaps the greatest of all LAD seasons. Smh
They´ve gotta move on Granderson or Verdugo, one or the other..or maybe Bellinger ends up in CF if Adrian returns

Just reading that Puig is staying in the 6 spot for good, a certain Michael Jackson song immediately popped up in my head
¨ Why, why..why would you move Puig up in the order..why would you do us that waaayyy???!!! ¨..the remix
    Dear lord
Fuck it..everything´s gonna be alright..Lavar Ball..speak it into existence

Puig needs to stay in the 8 spot. He's impressed this season but I'm not sure I can trust him in the middle of the order. However, I trust him more than Joc, Grandal or Forsythe so I understand why they're doing it.

There is definitely a decent drop off after the 4 spot in the order. It would have been nice to add another bat to go for the kill. Colorado's idea of Granderson doesn't seem as bad as I thought

The hate for Puig is still strong in your deluded minds people.
You are bashing the move to 6th while at the same time saying that everyone else that has batted between Bellinger and Puig this year has hit way worse than Puig.
That you dont want Puig batting 6th because you cant trust him, even though he has posted great numbers vs righties.
Then yall go and say that you cant trust Grandal and Joc either.
And yall still wondering why this move was made.
SMH... this stuff is not hard to spot. You don't need hindsight.

Imagine if Belly had the additional 22 or so games at the beginning of the season.

Personally preferred to keep Puig in 8th spot, seriously?
You want to bring up unproven Verdugo and hit him 6th?
Or keep Grandmal or Joc going 0fer game after game?

For me, I just love the fact that while other teams were putting their weakest hitter at #8, we had a legitimate threat there. Seemed to work well for the team. Not saying it won't work with Puig at #6, but why mess with a winning formula?

Therein lies the rub. I agree with not messing with the formula but it's extremely hard to watch Yaz and Joc have putrid at-bats this month at least (Joc most of the year). It's a great problem to have.

You know who messes with a winning formula?
    Winners. Its how they win.
You know who doesnt mess with a winning formula?
Losers who follow the advice giving to them by other losers.

I do like your reasoning of having a killer batting 8th compared to an easy out that most teams employ.

Just looked at the lineup last night......MGT kinda had to do what they did. Joc/Grandal/Forsythe are not hitting a lick. Had to do something so moving Puig up was the only option. Realistically Puig should have been in the 5 hole with Grandal/Forsythe/Joc to round out the line up. But moving Puig up to the 5 was probably to big of a jump. I really hope that Gonzo comes back and hits. Then there would only be one of Forsythe/Joc in the lineup each day.

    Nobody hates Puig
    At least I don't.
Him being relied on to bat 6th isn't ideal but it's the best choice for now.
Another reliable bat would help, and that's going to probably have to come in the form of Gonzalez, Joc or Grandal being healthy and better.
