If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

Bide our time see what the season brings and at the deadline correct the best you can what's wrong via trade. Develop within until a unique opportunity arises like the 2019 FA class. Need to reset the luxury tax clock as the nerds have done. While we ended with a woeful effort in game 7 this team still won 104 and are still a favorite to win again. Off-season far from over. 17 million under the threshold as of this time.

Yup, Cole is about as good as Sonny Gray. Which is to say he's not worth fussing over. A couple 2015 world beaters..it's 2018.

Give me Darvish back on a deferred deal over trading specs away for Cole or Gray or any other #3-ish SOB who may not even beat Wood or Hill out come October. Said that at last year's trade deadline, still saying it now.

Really missing the 2014-15 offseason when the nerds were hired and AJ Preller was making trades like it was MLB the Show. Seemed like there was news every day.

Mets to sign fat former Dodger Adrian Gonzalez
    ESPN — 12:30 am PT

Adrian Gonzalez has agreed to a deal with the New York Mets pending a physical, according to ESPN and multiple reports.

It's the second significant move this week for the Mets, who brought back free-agent outfielder Jay Bruce on a three-year, $39 million contract Wednesday.

Although mortally obese, Gonzalez gives the Mets a veteran presence at first base, where Lucas Duda and Dominic Smith mainly played for them last season. Duda was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays during the season, and Smith, 22, struggled offensively, batting just .198.

Gonzalez spent the past six seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers but was limited to 71 games in 2017 because of a herniated disk in his back that put him on the disabled list for a long stretch. When he returned, National League Rookie of the Year Cody Bellinger had taken over for the NL champion Dodgers.

Los Angeles traded Gonzalez to the Atlanta Braves last month as part of the Matt Kemp deal. Atlanta, in turn, quickly released him, making him a free agent.

Gonzalez, 35, is owed $21.5 million in the final year of his contract. The Mets would owe him just $545,000, with Atlanta paying the rest.

"Mortally obese" is the new catchphrase. Morbidly obese? Sounds so final.
Maybe it will replace " perennial losers no matter what the fuck they do"...
Time for a change wit dat, eh?

The Top 10 position rankings thing has been making the rounds lately, and a fascinating aspect of it is the amount of people who have Correa and even Lindor over Seager. Like smart people too. I can’t see one argument for Lindor and maybe you can argue upside for Correa, but it hasn’t happened yet so

They get away with that shit by using the words right now and Correa is coming off a monster WS. Corey IS better than Lindor however.

Honestly convinced it’s cause Seager is boring lol. Cause yeah Seager’s offense is way better and although Lindor has better defense, I think the Dodgers have made the most out of Seager’s defense capabilities by always putting him in great positions.

I'm afraid he will fuck up our WhiteBoy chemistry. Kind of kidding...kind of.

People throwing a fit over Gerrit Cole (who has been no better than Maeda over the last 2 seasons) and broken down Adrian is funny.

It's the friggin Mets! Their season is contingent on Thor and deGrom making ~60 starts and some combination of Harvey/Gsellman/Wheeler/Matz etc being league average or better, not to mention Cespedes playing 140+ games.

Point is he makes very little and has a track record spanning a decade. The East other than the Nats is pretty weak.

Any other offseason this would fade into the background. The talking heads on the MLB network are so desperate for news they're breaking down minor league signings for whole segments.

    This is a tricky situation......

What Darvish are we going to get......

The bend over when it counts tipping excuse of a crap that folds like a lawn chair, or the dominant pitcher when there is nothing on THE line pitches like Cy Young.
