If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Agreed. Whether Kemp or Toles platoons is less of an issue than having a SP rotation of all left handers, one of which is Ryu who will start the first away game apparently. With Urias out at least until the All Star Break, and Beuhler on an innings count because of his TJ surgery, I'm hoping this patchwork survives until the trade deadline.

Forsythe would be best as a platoon. He has to prove that he can hit vs righties right? I mean the entire year last year he was horrible vs righties and now we are all willing to just hand him the job. I remember everyone hating on the guy for the entire year now its all forgiven?

    2B: Taylor/Forsythe
    SS: Seager/Seager
    3B: Turner/Turner
    1B: Bellinger/Bellinger
    CF: Toles/Taylor
    LF: Kemp/Kemp
    RF: Puig/Puig
    C: Grandal/Barnes

This type of lineup would get the most out of everyone's strengths.
Toles becomes the 3rd OF in terms of total innings played in the OF. He starts in CF vs righties.
    Taylor the 1st 2B and 4th OF.
Kike and Joc can be defensive replacements/pinch hitters.
Forsythe starts in 2B vs lefties which is his speciality.
Our bench is deep, we can afford to have these good players do what they do best.
Puig sucked vs lefties last year after being decent against them the year prior. If he still cant hit lefties after a month or so then Kike gets more opportunities to platoon.
We are deep in the OF on the roster and in farm system so a guy like Taylor who can excel at 2B should play there.

    And even then, no guarantee.
They got the best one available last year, for sure, and look at the douchey, bitch- smacked results...I honestly believed they did the right thing by getting Yu, and so did the vast majority of fans and bb people. Psyche.
You just get so many shots at it...

Gonna guess that the club swings a deal before ST is over to land a AAAA pitcher with options, probably use Trayce in the deal. Lack of SP depth for the start of the season is a bit concerning.

We don't have a pool of arms on reserve like we've had in the past. If any of our guys go on the DL for a length of time, it's gonna be tough.
I know we always shit on the bullpen to start the season and usually are pleasantly surprised...but I'm still skeptical.

Having a real tough time getting excited for this season. Never felt so down from a playoff exit before. That World Series was a nightmare. I'd rather watch Broxton's blow ups than even positive moments from the WS.

The club has quality depth at SP that should be ready to contribute this season, it is just that the really good arms need some seasoning in AAA first. They don't need a #2 behind Kershaw just yet, but they need someone that could potentially get them through a few starts in April or May if the need occurs. Font could be that guy if he is not released first as I am worried about his struggles when he comes out of the pen.

Keith Law had a report last week about Hunter Greene of the Reds, but mentioned that there was a Dodgers prospect note as well. Does anyone happen to have Insider? I am pretty sure nobody here does, but thought I'd ask(link below). I pay for enough online accounts already that I hardly ever read so I am done paying for ones that are pointless 99.9% of the time(ESPN Insider) to me.
    http://www.espn.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=8161

    - Edwin Rios has sent two massive HR's over the CF batters eye's in the past 3 games. Even before that, there had been talk about just how good he has looked this spring in camp. Naturally after those bombs, the chatter has gotten a bit louder. He is slow, but has a plus arm. He has worked on his agility so that he could play the OF and has lost a good bit of weight, but it sounds like his future is 1B/DH, not the 3B he came up playing. He is trade bait, but could hit his way to the big leagues and potentially make the org think twice about Bellinger in LF as Rios is not bad around the bag at 1B. He will really have to hit to do that though, but Mark Trumbo is a comp I had seen a lot prior to this season. He has done a good job of reducing his K rate and his walk rate improved after a promotion to AAA middle of last season. He will need to continue to build on those #'s in OKC this year to show he does have the stuff to potentially be an everyday player. Anything at or better than what he did in OKC and the Dodgers could have a solid bench bat for the late season run, or good trade piece to move from a position of depth. Wish he could get his legs churning a little bit more as he would make for a great prototypical LF'er with the kind of power he possesses.

Dodgers Digest just did a podcast and mostly hit on the same things I was saying about Rios and apparently the Law thing I asked about was in fact in regards to how impressed he has been with Rios. So some good things there, but the defense is something that will always be mentioned.

I fucking love Snickers. Only american candy that I will buy with my own money.
But I prefer the almond kind.
No snickers for me as I could not find the article this time.

Dave Roberts just said that "Yasmani is going to get most of the at-bats" according to Bill Shaikin in regards to the catching position.

Next round of cuts tomorrow. Roster currently at 36 (not incl DL guys)

Well, that fucking blows. Hopefully he comes back fine after the 2+ months.

Time for Enrique to show that he deserves to play every day I guess

Would guess that Forsythe becomes reg 3B, Taylor moves to 2B and we get Toles in CF.

I think the team can survive those months without Turner, my main worry is what player he is when he comes back. Is he the same Turner or does this injury make him much worse all year? Ugh

These are my worries as well. At his age, a wrist injury like this could have long term effects.

Agree on that, but I have to imagine Kiké and/or Barnes (and they carry Farmer as a 3rd catcher) get a look before bringing Taylor in for any extended time.
