like it was some kind of mystery
seriously how did he not at least give other guys a shot during the season?
its like davey must wake up in a cold sweat at night thinking about hurting toomgis's feelings

Another good article talking about closer situation:
    https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodg...e-treinen?_amp=true&__twitter_impression=true

Also does a good job talking about previous winners all having not clear closer situations

I think they’ll use Kenley for shitty parts of lineup, and maybe as a “closer” if we have a 3+ run lead with someone behind him. Almost like he’s a mop up closer, which isn’t bad. I’ve never liked how sometimes our best relievers are used even with a 4-5 run lead. Use Jansen during those times, save our better guys for tighter situations

These articles always mention Treinen and Graterol, but no one ever mentions Victor. He doesn't walk guys and he keeps the ball in the yard, it's tough to put up a big inning on him and he makes me more comfortable than anyone else in the pen. We need more Victor Gonzalez talk.

I think there’s two things with victor:

he’s really good but we still just have a short seasoned sample. The stuff is good enough that I have faith, but still. And also: you probably don’t want to save him for the 9th inning and should wanna use him in high leverage spots earlier against a tough lefty. I wouldn’t be surprised if they used him in the 9th though, especially in a spot where the 8th is very handed in terms of lineup and the 9th you see Hosmer/Cronenworth or something

he’s so bad that he could, potentially, help as much as he hurts
here’s to hoping all his bad calls go against the pads

I’m kinda thinking the same thing. The dude gets off so much on being the center of attention that he might be inclined to piss off the team that is young and exciting and good for baseball (as much as I hate to admit this for the Padres).

Angel Hernandez is scheduled to umpire 1B for Game 1. So that means he should be behind the plate for Game 2. If your theory is correct that mean good things - the established veteran umpire, behind the plate with the established veteran team and established veteran pitcher.

    Thank you.
But the word delusion comes to mind when I think of umpires. They see apparitions, I think. Nothing real.
Btw, in the film "Becket"...how good was O' Toole ? That and him as Edward in " The Lion in Winter" were two of the best ever, imo.

I’ll eat these words, but Clevinger doesn’t scare me for one second. Lamet is nasty though. Let’s see what happens.

We’ll see what’s happening soon, but it sounds like Clevinger is a better bet to play than Lamet. And I agree I’d rather face Clevinger, because Lamet has owned us.

With the 5-game series and no rest, it doesn’t matter too much where they pitch 1-3, so it may not affect who pitches tonight. Time to get the bubble started.

Yep looks like Clevinger is pitching tonight, with no news on Lamet probably meaning he isn’t.

let’s let them get hyped that Clevinger is pitching only to beat this broken, dumbass up

    same
last i had read was clevinger was a “possibility” to make an “appearance”
    that’s a far cry from being 100%
adrenaline might carry him for a couple innings, but i don’t see him pitching deep into the game

    per alanna’s twitter...
    • The #Dodgers have announced their #NLDS roster. Dylan Floro & Gavin Lux were added. Edwin Rios & Keibert Ruiz were subtracted.

Agree. Lux adds nothing at this point. Struggled both at the plate and in the field.

Wow, I’m surprised to see Beaty over Rios and Gore over Ruiz.

I don’t mind Lux at all, they probably think he’s a good matchup with SD pitching.

Really wonder what the thinking behind no Rios is. Maybe his power doesn’t play as well in that stadium and his K’s are worrisome? Lux at bats in sim games are impressive? Or maybe scared of Rios lack of versatility since he’s basically barely a corner infielder and then DH. Who knows.

Another thought is you might need Lux more at 2B to possibly put Taylor in the big ass OF?

Anyways, I wish the best for Lux but it should also not matter, our other guys need to win us these games
