Muncy and Bellinger break out this series. The Padres bats go cold. Easy sweep.

Dodgers -150 tonight, so the Dodgers are favored by a good amount. This is after the Clevinger announcement too, it was probably higher before that.

I don't know about this series odds, but the Dodgers are sitting at 4x better odds to win the NLCS and WS than the Padres.

If the Astros advance and the Dodgers advance, I'm just going to root for the Astros in the ALCS. Fuck it. We might as well get their shitty ass in the WS.

Dodgers odds are incredibly high in all betting and simulation markets. It’d be a definite choke if we lost cause: were extremely good

I am honestly a bit shocked by that. We just played a TERRIBLE/depleted team and snuck by with two close wins. The Padres played a much better team that looked reinvigorated after finally having a couple days off and came out on top after their offense absolutely exploded. Maybe I have a recent history bias, but once again watching Seager, Pollock, Bellinger and Muncy all have pretty "meh" AB's down the stretch and/or in those 2 games has me incredibly worried about going up against an offense that is clicking on all cylinders. I really really want to be proven wrong, but I think we are about to get embarrassed.

what's embarrassing is watching the turd astros playing on our field and winning
asking springer how it is that he always hits so well in the playoffs
would have been a perfect time for a random Dodger crew member to step in w a trash can lid

I think there's more going on with the Vegas odds, there are probably a lot of bets already on the Dodgers from earlier this season and before, and they might be trying hard to balance the books.

Vegas is essentially giving the Dodgers an 80% chance of winning this series.
Fangraphs is giving the Dodgers a 61% chance of winning this series. That is probably a more pure prediction.

I don't think the Padres will win, but it's almost tempting me to put money on the Padres. They have a much better chance of winning the NLCS and WS than the current Vegas odds.

If I gambled, I would put money on the Padres winning the NL and the Yankees winning it all. When young stars come out the way that Cronenworth and Tatis did in that first series, it seems to always lift the teams as that is where the weak links generally are during the playoffs. It also gives me morbid feelings about our future as we are STILL waiting for our superstar prospects to show up on the big stage and perform even close to what those two just did. There guys play with fire and excitement, ours always look like they're trying their best not to fuck up.

to a degree you're right and not questioning tatis being the real deal at all
still it has to happen a lot more than one series or game
our young guys have carried us and come up big too, just not as much as we'd like
let us swat them the first couple of games and watch that swagger turn to anger

I think May and Gonsolin are the keys to stopping their young stars. Buehler too if his blister won’t kill him. Those guys give no fucks and aren’t deers caught in the headlights like Kershaw
