We need alot of SP if only because some of the current SPs may have to be evaluated for closer duties as the season progresses.

That's a monumental "If". You can see how that worked with Jansen, and at 2/3 the salary.

If Seager is going to say "next question" when asked about if he's planning on signing with the Dodgers then I say NEXT SS. There is a much better way of responding at an official presser.
    I fucking hate Boras clients.

" Next question " feels like an effective enough way to put a cork in the talk but personally I don't care what he says. I don't need a bed time story. It's a business and the team would probably say similar or even less if they weren't so good at pandering to the fan base

Can't turn on Seager for the wrong reasons. He's never been a talker. Turn on him because with every passing day in ST there's more likely to be an upgrade available at his position next offseason given that Lindor's put a deadline on his extension talks

No way man. You never say NEXT QUESTION. You say, "I'm going to focus on my play and winning. I'll let my agent and ownership work it out".

Saying NEXT QUESTION opens up for 20 questions and none of them look good on the player or team. Besides , he was very outgoing in the presser.

It was just a terrible look.

If he doesn't want to sign with the Dodgers, then he doesn't. He's been pretty quiet for years, fighting injury after injury, and never reaching the level we expected from him. Then last year he was right physically, and tore it up, proving he could give what everyone thought he was always capable of.
Now, he's loquacious to the point of distraction...maybe this is the real Corey. Maybe.
I love the kid, but success may illustrate or create something entirely surprising...but it is possible he is, or has become, just a douchebag.

Think you do say " next question " if you're a no nonsense type of guy that'll just continue to not give a fuck and say " next question ". Throw in the classic Seager stone face and there's nothing else to say. Media doesn't get an unlimited amount of questions to ask these players so at some point they'll realize it's a waste of time

Anyway they know Seager's not a big talker so they'll leave him alone eventually. He's not a lightning rod type or big marketable personality to begin with so they won't get anything that's worth a damn either way. He's boring. Regardless I think our FO is too smart to hand a lengthy monster contract to a SS that's not very good at the playing SS. Perhaps Seager has that feeling too? Let's talk when LAD loses in the postseason and Seager shows up in a Boras corp cap

Personally, I don't need a Lindor glove at SS if I have a 2020 Seager bat there.

If - is right, given Seager's troublesome injury history

Now imagine if there were a player that brought the bat and the glove, and were always healthy....and he was a guy that cleared Seager by 10+ career WAR since they both debuted in 2015. What name would we give that player? Lindor.

Corey Seager's injury history is the elbow which is taken care of and not going to be a problem again, and what, his hip If I am not mistaken. Other than that, he is good. It's not that extensive

Ah yeah just a repaired elbow for a SS..we see that often..and hip surgery for a 6'5" guy playing a physically demanding position that's historically more of a fit for smaller human beings that move around easier. Nothin to worry about. Of course we can't forget about his lower back and hamstring injuries that have sidelined him for weeks in the past as well, or can we? Not too extensive. He'll be able to lift his money bags in a year

I must look like the bad guy bringing all this stuff up but you know I don't give a shit about any of that. Concerns are concerns when there's potentially $250MM+ hanging in the balance. Can understand Seager not wanting to blow smoke up anyone's ass at media sessions. Shit Lindor's already told the Mets and the media...." leave me the fuck alone about free agency after spring training " because he wants to focus on the season. And Seager basically said the same after a follow up question..he just wants to focus on the season. He's always been a focused guy - except for when he lived with Joc and picked up the ice cream habit which led to the hardcore dairy diet

It was the hip that led to lower back pain that led to overcompensating that led to the arm issue. It was a freak chain of events and shows why when you have an injury in baseball, it is not smart to ignore it. Hip injuries are always worrisome, but it sounds like the doctors think they fixed it. His first year back was not a great look for him, so I was pretty suspect of what he still had in the tank. Last year though, he was on another level and looked again like the guy that belongs atop MVP voter lists. Also, what he did in the postseason was next level. I have no problem letting him play the season out and making a decision at the end of the year at this point. He has a few things to prove this year still and if he shows that he can stay healthy over a 162 game slate + deep playoff run, that is probably a scenario the Dodgers would take before offering up another massive contract.

I am sure I am the minority here, but I'm kinda excited to see what Price brings to the table. Yeah, Price has been hurt the last few seasons, but sitting out last season might have been a blessing in disguise. I am hoping that sitting out last season gave his body a chance to truly heal. Also being the 4th or 5th starter will lessen the expectation. If MGT can get his 2018 stats - 170+ innings, 3.58 era, and a whip of 1.14 from the #4 slot I will be thrilled!!

Also wouldn't hurt to see Seager play the SS position well for the 1st time since like 2017. That's what gets lost in all the injury talk. That he just doesn't play the position very well. The arm doesn't look the same for starters. But reasonable stance nonetheless

If there was the option to pay Seager to play 1B for LAD for the next 10 years I'd be behind that 110%. Sign me up tomorrow. Definitely not a case of just wanting Seager gone for me. They should be willing to pay for good players in their prime....they obviously are. Just make sure these players are playing the right positions out here. As we used to say a bunch here " spend wisely ". And I don't know how wise it is to lock Seager in at SS. They'll probably consider Javy Baez as a replacement too if the Cubs don't lock him up, but Lindor likely 1st. Report out today says the Mets plan to start extension talks with Lindor pretty soon. Guess we'll find out soon if Lindor wants to lock into the NYM clown show

    • Dodgers have hired Dontrelle Willis as a special assistant for player development.
    • Sounds like Josiah "JoJo" Gray is getting a lot of love in the early going of camp though the team seems non-committal at the idea that we will see him at the MLB level this year. One thing that has happened is that the staff has gotten a bit overloaded with big league ready talent. Our AAA rotation appears to be May, Gonsolin, Gray, White and Jimmy Nelson at current with a potential need for a 6 man if the planets align and nobody comes out of ST hurt. On the surface, that would probably be a rotation good enough to win the NL Central.
    • Speaking of impressive young pitchers, Michael Grove was one of the better parts of yesterday's opener. Showing a fluid motion, solid pitch mix and locating everything well. He was one of the talks of camp last year prior to the shut down as the next best pitching prospect in the org. He doesn't sound like Buehler 2.0 as some had dubbed him post signing, but there is some feeling in the org that he could blow up this year none the less. Looking at our AA rotation, that too is gonna be overloaded with a projection of Jackson, Grove, Pepiot, Uceta and Carrillo. All of these loaded staffs and we are still going to need to seat Miller, Knack, Lewis, Williams and Ortiz. The amount of starting pitching depth in the org right now is next level.
    • Word is that Keibert Ruiz still has not made it to camp. No word on whether he has made it stateside, but once he does he will need to quarantine for 2 weeks.
