Can't forget this dude was flying up the charts a couple of years ago before the shoulder injury. Sinker was considered a 70/80 grade pitch and his slider was 60/70. The year he made it to the show, his change had leapt up and was getting 50 present grades from scouts who had also mentioned that his control and command had ticked to above average after being below the year before which had garnered heavy reliever projections. By the time he made it up, there was talk that he was looking more like a front line starting pitcher as his year over year improvements had been incredible. Since coming back from the injury, he has been more in line with the guy he was a couple years prior to that. Good sinker that slid into great at times, a slider that was inconsistent in shape and location and the change was a show me pitch. If he can come back close to the guy he was pre injury, he is not only a reliever, he is an elite one. Dude just needs to find some consistency, and maybe getting further away from the injury will do that.

The pitching with one eye closed thing is simply fucking stupid.

Dang, Robertson is all over the place right now. Not his night, but he is someone to watch this season.

Why? Do you think a MLB pitcher needs depth perception or something ? Pfftt...

I really think we are lucky to have Joe and Orel as our broadcasting team. Probably more than most other on here...but this " embarrassing wealth of talent" narrative now has to go away. Oh yeah.
It's like one-eye Bauer having a " wealth of, uh, wealth ", and winding up with a 4.89 ERA this year.
    Just asking for it.

He says there is a method to the madness. The ONLY reason it makes any sense to me is that he assumes it is going to lock in his mechanics solely from a feel perspective. I was thinking about it though and worry that it could do the opposite and get him off balance a bit.

    Maybe that's how he sleeps.
If you have a bad eye that causes you to miss the mark it is better to remove it and learn to see with one eye so that you may make it to the promised land and get that championship halo on your finger.
Because what good is two eyes if you have to strain yourself just to mirror darkly?
I'm sure that can't be good for either hemisphere.

He could pitch blindfolded for all I care, as long as he puts up the numbers.

yeah especially on the bullpen side to be honest. I’m as giddy as it comes to seeing all the pitching talent that’s been displayed in spring training but uh, you can easily see how quickly a few (likely) injuries make it weird

I think the biggest part about the Dodgers wealth of talent is that they’re one of like, 5 teams that cared this offseason lol

honesly, Bauer is the type of dude who thinks he’s way smarter than he actually is, been that way since his UCLA days. His method is probably dumb or made up.

But I guess I’d rather him be stupid than.. other things so whatever
