For decades when fans discussed their favorite catcher the discussion would turn to how well they blocked the plate, till Buster.

    • The Dodgers enter this offseason at their biggest crossroads in a decade, and the 2022 roster will undoubtedly look much different. Consider: (1) Clayton Kershaw is a free agent. (2) Corey Seager is a free agent. (3) Kenley Jansen is a free agent. (4) Chris Taylor is a free agent. (5) Max Scherzer is a free agent. (6) Trevor Bauer has almost certainly thrown his last pitch with the Dodgers. (7) Will Cody Bellinger hit again? (8) Did Justin Turner get old overnight? Now, don't feel too bad for the Dodgers: They're still loaded with frontline talent -- Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, Max Muncy, Walker Buehler, Julio Urias, Will Smith, maybe Bellinger -- and they have the financial resources to plug holes. Still, it will be an interesting offseason after the failure to go back-to-back.

Kenley and Kershaw on sweetheart deals.
Taylor given a nice little payday for his hardwork.
Max gets whatever Max wants even if it's the max for a couple if years.
    Seager is a Yankee.

JT becomes super sub like Utley.
    Or moves to 1b.
I wish we still had joc and kike and let seager walk to keep them.

Ehhh. I’d be fine with Taylor walking honestly. Dodgers played their best baseball of the season when he was hot ass. He was big in the playoffs but he’s 31, it’s likely his best baseball is behind him. Kershaw stays for sure, max is the next most likely to stay but if he doesn’t he goes to the Angels. I think Kenley stays but I’m not sure. Everyone else is up in the air.

    • Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson was among 10 players who became free agents Thursday when he declined a 2022 mutual option in his contract. Pederson agreed with the Cubs in February to a $7 million, one-year contract that included a $4.5 million salary and a $10 million mutual option with a $2.5 million buyout. He was traded to Atlanta in July and helped the Braves win their first World Series title since 1995. Pederson had two homers and five RBIs in the Division Series against Milwaukee and one homer and four RBIs in the League Championship Series vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers, then went 1 for 15 in the World Series against Houston.

will be interesting to see if any market opens up for Joc
would have thought he would be better off taking that extra year but i'm guessing he must have known ATL would have bought him out either way

MLB Analyst Expects ‘2 or 3’ of LA’s Top Free Agents to Re-Sign
by Brook Smith | Dodgers Nation — 5 November 2021

Perhaps more than ever before, this offseason will bring a whole lot of change for the Dodgers. With so many guys set to hit the open market and potentially explore free agency, there are bound to be major roster changes on the horizon.

But Dodgers fans really want to know which guys will be returning in 2021. Out of all of their free agents, chances are that only a select few will return. Fans are obviously hoping that most of the top 5 are able to come back.

But The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya doesn’t quite see it shaking out that way. He predicted this week that while the Dodgers have some looming questions with Trevor Bauer, chances are they only bring back a few key targets.

"A lot of this depends on how much the Dodgers are willing to spend this winter. But if I had to guess out of the Dodgers’ top five free agents, I’d say two or three re-sign."
Those top 5 guys he’s talking about are Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, Corey Seager, Chris Taylor, and Kenley Jansen. Which 2 or 3 choose to stay with the Dodgers is completely up in the air for the moment.

Kershaw seems like the most likely to return out of anyone for the Dodgers if he wants to continue to play. For the moment, there is no indication that he would prefer to retire at the ripe age of 33. But don’t expect Los Angeles to go out and re-sign every guy that they have hitting the market.

I think Seager and Jansen are gone for sure. CK is staying for sure (I don’t think he’s chasing money, and I do think he wants to remain a Dodger for life).

But between Taylor and Scherzer, I just have to try to keep Scherzer. He will have more impact more consistently than Taylor. And given the injuries to May and CK this year, Gonsolin not really developing, Bauer probably gone, and playoff inconsistencies by Buehler, you really can’t have enough SPs.

Although, our hitting was atrocious, the games we lost in the NLCS, almost all close games. were pretty much all games that we were ahead until a pitching failure or failures.

Seager almost for certain and i hope Kenley is gone tbh
i don't have any bad will toward the man and he's a warrior but i can't imagine him as closer for 2-3 years even if he was resurgent this year in the end
it has to be smoke and mirrors and they'll figure him out
as much as i want CT he's going to come at a tremendous price to whoever signs him at 31 but for real how do you replace a guy like him especially after losing Kike?
if CK is a lock i'm hoping for 3/5 and Max coming back on a solid deal as well
just can't believe he was impressed by dave

The Dodgers have had a lead foot down on the accelerator for 8 years.

The banner with "2020" on it, whether it was a fake season or not, gives them enough slack to start letting guys go.

In 3-4 years, I may not recognize anyone. Except Dave.
