I feel you all on the Correa stuff. I toyed with the idea for a second because he's a really good player but there are certain lines you do not cross and having him on the Dodgers would feel so wrong for many reasons

I wonder...as bad as Jackie to the Giants...?
I know here were aspects to it that came to light that kinda exonerate the Dodgers...but c'mon.
Damn, that was a prelude to what would've been the bottom of deepest trench of scumbaggery.

I will get so tilted if the Dodgers sign him. I’ll go straight to the “why Tf didn’t you just give Corey that money, because he’s probably getting more than Seager.

    Arguably Correa’s the better player?

Anyway, I would really have to close my eyes and ears and just read up on Dodger baseball if this were to happen. The hearing the name alone would drive me to drink.

I don’t think this will happen in any case. Seems like Dodgers are in expense control mode this year.

    totally agree
which is why freeman makes sense over seager
    2016-2021...
    freeman is averaging -- 28hr, 86rbi and slashing .305/.399/.547/.946
    seager -- 17hr, 58rbi, .295/.364/.501/.865
    great numbers for both
but i'll take the (albeit 5 yrs older) better hitter, with more power, for considerably less $$$ and less years
corey got 10/325, freeman reportedly looking for 6/180

I’d give Freeman that $180/6 in a heartbeat.

he reportedly told the braves that's what he was seeking, wanted it done before the (current) stoppage, and is not happy they (again, reportedly) didn't even make an offer

    edit:
    and right on cue...

    Freeman grew impatient with Braves
by Blake Williams | Dodger Blue — 11 December 2021

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost two big free agents in Max Scherzer and Corey Seager prior to the MLB lockout, so once a new collective bargaining agreement is in place, they will have a lot of work to do to replace them.

Freddie Freeman is among the top position players still available on the open market, and the Dodgers reportedly are one of the interested teams.

Although most have assumed Freeman was a lock to re-sign with the Atlanta Braves and spend his entire career there, he did not reach an agreement with them because they were unwilling to offer him a sixth year in a contract.

The Braves didn’t even offer Freeman a contract prior to the lockout, which caused him to become frustrated and could ultimately lead to him finding a new home, according to David Vassegh of AM 570 L.A. Sports Radio:

“The Dodgers have now pivoted towards Orange County’s own Freddie Freeman. They are engaged in talks right now. What makes this all the more interesting is that Freddie Freeman, from my understanding of people close to him, he has grown very impatient with the Atlanta Braves. Because the Atlanta Braves were taking the strategy of waiting to see where the market goes before offering him a contract. So to my knowledge, the Braves still have not formally offered Freddie Freeman any sort of free agent contract, which has made him grown impatient. And when a door closes, there’s another one that opens, and Andrew Friedman usually steps right through it.”

If the Dodgers sign Freeman, it would allow Muncy to play second base while Trea Turner slides back to his natural position at shortstop.

The 32-year-old has been among the most consistent superstars in baseball over the last decade, hitting .295/.384/.509 with a 138 wRC+ in 1565 career games.

In 2020, Freeman was named the National League Most Valuable Player for hitting .341/.462/.640 with 13 home runs and a 186 wRC+ in 60 games played during the pandemic-shortened season.

This past season, Freeman got off to a slow start by his standards but finished the year with a .300/.393/.503 slash line to go along with 31 home runs and a 135 wRC+.

They all worship the patron saint of Dodger Comedy, Dave Roberts.
They sell medals and figurines like they do with St. Christopher...

" I don't care if we collapse or cave,
Long as I got my plastic Dave
Up there on the dashboard of my car"...

Of course, in light of the LAD off season activity so far, it may change to St. Jude...

Is Kyle Schwarber a good consolation prize if LA misses out on Freeman?
The former World Series champ adds thump from the left side.
by Doug McKain | Dodgers Nation — 17 December 2021

With Corey Seager having signed a Texas-sized, 10-year $325M contract with the Rangers, the Dodgers will need to replace his production from the left side of the plate. While the team still has a handful of talented left-handed bats on the roster, adding another impact lefty bat should be one of LA’s top priorities once a new CBA is reached.

Right now, the Dodgers have three left-handed swingers on the roster that promise to be regulars in the starting lineup next season: Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, and Gavin Lux. However, Muncy is still recovering from a torn ligament in his elbow suffered during the final game of the regular season. Recently, he recently told High Heat’s Alanna Rizzo that he’s “not recovering as quick as I would like.”

While Cody Bellinger’s resurgence in the postseason was encouraging, he still must prove that he has put his dreadful 2021 season behind him. The former MVP’s 2021 regular season was marred by a slew of injuries that led to him finishing near the bottom of the league with a 48 wRC+ (seventh-worst) and a -0.8 fWAR (ninth-worst). Then there’s Gavin Lux, who finished the regular season strong but has yet to put it all together for a full season.

In a perfect world, the Dodgers would sign MVP first baseman, Freddie Freeman. LA has been linked to Freeman by multiple MLB insiders, but most within the industry still feel like he’ll eventually re-sign with the Atlanta Braves. If the Braves and Freeman can’t come to an agreement, LA will certainly aggressively try to bring the Southern California native home, but if they can’t, another option could be signing free agent slugger, Kyle Schwarber.

Schwarber, 28, is a below-average outfielder and first baseman, but with the league planning to implement the designated hitter in the National League next season, the Dodgers could potentially include him in their DH rotation. The 2021 All-Star hit .266/.374/.554 with 32 home runs and a 145 wRC+ last season. His rise to being one of the game’s better left-handed power hitters was due in large part to an improved plate discipline that saw him swing at a career-low 23.3% of pitches outside the zone which helped post an elite 13.6 BB% (94th percentile). Schwarber was among the league leaders in hard contact (52.5%), barrel percentage (16.8%), and average exit velocity (92.6 MPH).

The former World Series Champion bounced back nicely after a down 2020 season, where he posted career-lows across the board, slashing .188/.308/.393 in 59 games with the Cubs. In today’s Dodgers Dougout, we discuss the pros/cons of the Dodgers potentially signing Kyle Schwarber, what kind of contract he would command, and if LA should make him one of their top free agent targets if they can’t land Freddie Freeman.

MLB Trade Rumors predicts a deal worth $70 million over four years for Schwarber. The former first rounder has 522 hits, 153 home runs, and 350 runs batted in over his 7 year career.

I say sign Freeman and Schwarber...pay Schwarber at least 100 million.
What? Are we poor or some shit ?
Just as long as there's enough $ to extend that manager guy...let's not get that crazy...and not leave enough for that !
Remember: this will be another covid year. And we all know how we made out on the last 60 game season.
Shit, the way things are going, this one might be less.
    Our forte !

I am all for spending major $$$ on the offense. The offense was pretty bad most of the postseason.

Fortunate we even made the NLCS considering they shit the bed in the WC game and 3 out of the 5 games vs the Giants.

A comeback by Bellinger and Lux fulfilling his potential would go a long ways to fixing that offense.

Cody's injury setback really hurt him. But it was amazing how badly he fell. I like Lux, but he may the guy without a position if we were to acquire Freeman. Could ship him and/or Pollock in exchange for some badly needed starting pitching.
