    Couple of notes from The Athletic.........

    Treinen threw a 25 pitch bullpen yesterday. Reportedly velocity was good. Still looking at a possible mid-Aug. return. He's close to throwing to hitters.

    IL is possible for J Turner.

    Taylor took BP for the first time since his injury. Might start a rehab assignment next week.

    Heaney will slot into the rotation this week with the team facing a stretch of 18 games in a row.

    Recently, Dodgers executive Andrew Friedman confirmed that they're not aggressively pursuing more talent, as they expect to have Dustin May, Walker Buehler, and Blake Treinen back at some point. Nonetheless, they could still look to address their pitching staff in some capacity before the deadline:

    “We’re going to be adding some really talented pitchers back in the mix,” Friedman told the Los Angeles Times. “So the question is, worst case, what if X number of them return, and where do we feel where we have that coverage to put together a championship-caliber pitching staff in October? Obviously, those are the questions we’re going to be wrestling with the next couple weeks.”

    But more than that, everybody's waiting to see whether the Dodgers will break the bank again and make a move for Juan Soto, who recently turned down a $440 million offer by the Washington Nationals:

    “It’s more about assessing the specific need, and also the top-end type players that aren’t necessarily a need, but don’t become available all that often,” Friedman said. “When they do, you always see that process through. That’s kind of our mindset heading into these last couple weeks.”

    • Chris Taylor did some running on the field at Dodger Stadium this week and Dave Roberts estimates Taylor would begin a rehab assignment early next week. That should put him right around a mid-August return to the Dodgers lineup.

    Trea Turner, asked if he thinks the Dodgers will trade for Juan Soto...
    "I'm pretty sure if that man right there [points to Andrew Friedman] can acquire him for the right price, he'll do it in a heartbeat. Which is a cool part about playing here. If those people are available, they'll be here."

    i don't think we have any chance of getting soto
    but the bigger takeaway for me here is trea's comment about playing here
    pretty clear he'd like to stay
    i know trea has said he didn't want to negotiate during the season
    but imo there's no way we can let him hit the open market
    call his agent, find out what exactly it would take to keep him her, and then pay him what he's asking

    Oh brother...

    @azfreedman
    Making his first appearance with OKC, Pedro Báez was called for a clock violation before he threw his first pitch.

    @DodgersNation
    The Nationals are reportedly asking potential Soto suitors for their top six prospects, which would be a historic haul and completely wipe out any franchise’s farm system.

    That's absurd. Soto would look good in Blue, no doubt, but at that price I hope they pass.

    Rumor has it that Dodgers are also in on Garrett Cooper talks. That's going to be a more palatable price tag.

    other than a possible pen arm that's where it makes sense to see them add
    w both Cody and Max huge question marks on offense and a RH bat idk
    would be nice to have another option there although Trayce has been a nice surprise

    I don't care for the Mets but I have to admit that Edwin Diaz's entrance is my favorite in baseball.
