Imagine getting the perfect ground ball with first and second and no outs. Muncy is like 2 inches away from this ball. He's playing in expecting a bunt on 2-1. If he's even 1 step back, this is either a double play or more likely a triple play

    Now it begs the question...

Is he playing in if it is a 1-2 count like it should have been. Tumpane called pitch 1 a ball and said it was outside after ringing up Chris Taylor up on a pitch at the same height that was significantly more outside.

it don't fucking matter now. no accountability. Just a bunch of middle age white dudes helping decide baseball games by making shit calls. Almost seems like they bet on this shit

Smith smoked that sac fly. If that finds a gap the bases are cleared. Instead if set the stage for another RISP failure.

Beginning of the end was walking a braindead hack like Profar to lead off the inning. Double by Grisham (when he become a MLB hitter?) and a couple of seeing eye ground balls and the game is tied.

I never want to see another Bellinger take another Juan Pierre hack in a Dodger uniform again. Three years of this shit is enough.

    Go Phillies.

It's terribly lame...you hit the nail on the head.
Cummulatively, created is the perfect format, absolutely and precisely the environment, for the best teams in a grinding, relentless sport, to not be there at the end of it all to represent the best of it.
Outside of the nauseating Astros, are the teams left representative of the best n the sport ?
The game has been diluted by FO on field manipulation and greed for the sake of greed, and controlled by blatantly inept umpires in a world where technologies can almost perfectly make it as completely fair as possible, but the fascade of "tradition" prevents the biggest and overwhelmingly needed ABS to be instituted to insure integrity, but instead you get bigger bases and a pitch clock.
I suppose as the old guy, the generational look back at what the sport has become, is tainted with the inevitable "back in the day" slant...no matter how an elder like myself tries to avoid it. Like your hair turning grey, then white. You can't realistically stop it...only fake it.
But with age and as a daily participant in watching a thing you loved for 162+ games a year, for decades, does give you somewhat of a wisened focus and ultimately, asking "who are these people in charge of this thing I've loved so all these many years now? And what are they doing to it"?
And, as what I percieve the answer to be, my answer anyway, the smile so associated with the many years of watching and rooting, is simply gone.
Fare ye well boyos, as you watch these usurpers and strangers go for the ring.

beating a dead horse cause there's barely even anything critical of our blm manager out there
btw was watching someone ask why he wouldn't use Phillips in that high leverage situation in the 7th instead Almonte
you know those desperate bases loaded no out ones he has danced out of all year?
he was saving him for the closer lol

Not using Phillips in the 7th was the biggest mistake the buffoon made which is saying a lot

By far our best relief pitcher and like you said, he has a track record of getting out of jams. Seeing Phillips come in when we were down 2 and striking out the side reminded me of when Maeda K'd the side in game 5 of the NLDS vs the Nationals after CK had given back to back HRs to tie the game.

    Roberts is a fucking criminal.

Sometimes I wonder if it's better to be a fan of someone like the fucking Orioles. They go in every season knowing their chances of competing are minimal at best while we go into every season with a WS or bust mentality that always busts. The joy fans of teams like Baltimore will feel when they finally sniff a playoff berth will be more joy than we feel rooting for this franchise. The regular season success just does nothing for me anymore and has ruined a lot of my love for the sport. Patiently waiting for October year after year hoping that things are different only to get knocked out in devastating fashion.

Now we are going to be faced with who to root for in a Astros-Padres WS. Satan vs Hitler.

I won't watch but what a disaster scenario for a fan of the Dodgers.

    Two things:

yesterdays game and the horrible game of the home plate umpire makes me want the computer strike zone implemented immediately. I’m an old school guy and it pains me to want this but I feel the integrity of the game is at stake.

we as fans care more about World Series wins than the players and the FO. League leading attendance, skyrocketing salaries, PC manager, etc…. The Dodgers have checked all the boxes and that’s how the FO measures success.

doesn’t matter that they beat us
a team that finishes 22 games back has no business being in the postseason

    I've thought this myself.
I used to get a knot in my stomach and my heart would be racing before postseason games back in 08, 09, 13...
The weird start times, shadows, national broadcasts, and big stage was a novelty.
Even clinching a division was a huge deal as we were punching our ticket to the big dance.
    That novelty has worn off.
I think the players feel the same way.

Seeing the San Diego and Seattle crowds & players so fired up took me back to how I used to feel as a kid seeing the Dodgers complete in the playoffs.

Not saying losing is preferable to winning, but your observation is an interesting one. I feel similarly.

The last pitch I cared about was hit by Howie Kendrick over the center field wall. The covid season broke the habit of caring. It would be nice to care again but I think the organization needs a reboot.

Problem also is the nerds still play heavy macro analytics in the playoffs. This is still a game especially in the playoffs where you need a manager with feel. Because this isn't some 3 game weekday series in june.

Practical example is lifting Anderson after 5. Why not throw him out there and if someone gets to 2nd then bring in the pen? Would have possibly set us up better to close the game. Well because the numbers told Dave to take him out. And that's what this team is. Numbers. That's why they're lifeless and uninspired. To Dave and the nerds they're just numbers and the team acted accordingly.

Anderson said he could have gone another 5, maybe 150 pitches
he doesn't throw hard and looks to be in the shape of his life (homo)
oh well he get a couple of months rest before starting for someone else now
