I think I finally get the strategy here. We've had the best team on paper the last, I don't know 5 years? Made the post-season 10 straight years and have been the World Series favorites at the start of almost every year.

Friedman and company want to go into the year with a team that isn't considered the favorites to win it all. Let the kids play a little bit as well.

It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see how it works out for them.

 

its a broken record but nothing matters w bonehead at the helm
still i'd much rather see some of this formula as opposed to what the mets are doing
421m roster w a staff that is counting on two forty year olds and some cat from Japan
at least the madres have younger overpaid prima donnas on their squad but i don't see either team beating the asstros
going to be worth the price of admission to watch them crash and burn
not sure what has to happen for us to break away from this horrid davey era

Odd, in light of the lucky to have him, pushing the buttons for us MOY candidate Mr. Roberts, spewing the lack of enthusiasm and purpose of the team. And substantially, if not totally, diluting the excitement factor for the on field team we will put on the diamond next year.

Unless we do get McCutchen...a fine and talented player.

At least it puts some validity to the deafening silence ( where have I read that recently?).
I find the first reason absolutely grotesque, given the attendance figures, but probably looming as the actual one.
Ohtani is very exciting, but if we get clobbered like we have been lately by another rival, it will be more of a monumental lead balloon than the rest. Historical.
Imo, no matter how good the rookies come through, unless they're Jackie level, etc., are not going to make up for what (or who) we've let go...no way.
The emergence of Catman with some professional stamina ( very strangely handled last season, I might add), the righting of May from potential phenom to Wild Man will be of utmost importance. Prior probably the most valuable man in the organization, without a doubt.
All will be revealed, as they say.
