Last week I reached out to 10 current #Dodgers players. Four have responded already. None of them have any concern playing on the same team as Trevor Bauer. In fact, two even went as far as saying they feel the trial by social media has been completely unfair. There's your story.

At this point, Dodgers can't afford to let Bauer go. It's not like the $750k they'd save off his salary would allow them to bring in another impact arm. And you know the Asterisks are just chomping at the bit to sign him as soon as he's available. How would we feel, seeing him rack up double digit wins for Houston while we pay the majority of his salary? Dodgers need an arm, and he's the obvious answer.

And furthermore, if the concern is that he'd destroy team chemistry, frankly I don't think that highly of that chemistry to begin with. Like Roberts admitted, there was no energy or fire in the NLDS. Roberts will never be that manager - the one to motivate the team. Maybe having an intense personality like Bauer in the dugout would help make up for what Roberts lacks.

    Ditto.

Also, I feel like the fact that he still hasn't been formally released says a lot. The entire organization has had a TON of time to research everything that happened and gauge whether or not they would entertain the idea of having him back. It feels like if the team didn't want him, they would have immediately released him and disassociated themselves with his name.

Not only is he an impact arm that would be great to have in the rotation, but you have to factor in releasing him and letting him sign with any contender (Phi, SD, both NY's, Hou, etc.) for league minimum. This team is still trying to win a championship (despite what many of us think based on the off-season lol), and letting him walk means more L's and more W's for another team they may be competing against.

I really don't think the clubhouse thing is an issue either, but my guess is there is at least a few who are unsure about having him back. Pretty common knowledge but it's not like every guy needs to be best friends in the clubhouse, nor is that ever the case.

    this exactly
and if they’re worried about what billie jean, magic, blm, lgbtq et al thinks… fuck them
bauer doesn’t just make the team better, he makes it significantly better
and maybe, just maybe, this is why friedman didn’t do a lot this offseason

But I'm worried that that's exactly what they're worried about.

Question is what Bauer are you getting after sitting out since late June of '21.

Yeah, that thought crossed my mind as well, but because we're paying him either way, I don't see the risk in finding out for ourselves.

I don't know why, but something tells me that MLB wants us to drop him... even expects us to. They're okay with a smaller-market team signing him, as long as they can say one of their storied franchises made a social statement by cutting ties with him. I'd just love to see the LAD give MLB a big FUCK YOU and keep him on the roster.

Seems to me, MLB gave the Dodgers the big FUCK YOU by their actions and procrastinations, knowing full well the reprecussions financially and the possible turmoil with the organization...on multiple levels.
What you suggested would be turnabout fair play, imo.
    Hope they do keep him...

Maybe I'll be singing a different tune when the season is almost here but I am struggling to give a fuck about the Dodgers. One of the lamest postseasons exits I've seen in my life by any sports team followed by an absolute disaster of an offseason. Boo

J.T. Watkins, suspended by MLB in 2020 for his involvement in video sign-stealing scandal, has left Red Sox to take position w/ the Dodgers. Watkins will help LA with its hitting game planning. His hiring came with strong recommendations from both J.D. Martinez and Mookie Betts.

This is great. Bring in all the questionable humans who have had issues with the league - this guy Watkins, Bauer, etc.

Do you guys think we could swing a trade for Altuve? lol

    i think they cave too
like you said before dave and BJK are as woke as they come and are likely pushing for him to be released
probably doing everything they can to get something right up until the deadline
would have been cool to see the team stand behind him and just welcome him back
pretty sure the guys on the team stand behind him
