Just read in Houston Street's site that he mentions Julio's excellence and additional pitch this year.
    Already 2-0 on the season.
Then, he goes on to state that he will justifyably command a major salary contract to be signed next year, unfortunately probably not with the Dodgers.
Can this possibly have any truth to it ?? Would they be willing to cheap out and to let him go, given his talent and age?
After last year, Idk, but talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face...
They should work on extending him right fucking now.

of course it is possible. His agent is Scott Boreass. Dodgers don't pay Boras clients, mostly because they all get top of the market long term deals. Boras is gonna come in asking at minimum whatever Gerrit Cole got from the Yankees and the Dodgers ain't gonna meet that price

What would really annoy me about not extending him is that for years they handled him with kid gloves so to protect his arm and make him valuable for the long run. Look at the stats - he's been with the organization forever, and even on the big-league roster since 2016, but he was seemingly always on strict pitch counts. 2021 was the first year he was a full-time starter. So why was he babied all those years - to go and have a long career with another team? I hate Borass as much as anyone, but this is one case where I say, swallow our pride and pay the man.

There's much yet still to play out in Julio's career, but given his tools and mental toughness, I don't think it's unreasonable to believe he's got a great shot to go to the Hall.
His high seasonal victories, along with ML leading or near leading ERA year after year, plus his post season accomplishments are signature elements for being voted in.
Not signing him might be the straw that breaks the camel's back for me.
There's just so much shit an old man can take.

Yeah, it was part of it.
Too overpitch him could have been to totally risk his talents.
And God knows, if there's a team in baseball who will burn a great pitcher out before his time, it's the Dodgers.
    Both coast versions.

#Dodgers have signed veteran pitcher William Cuevas to a minor league deal. Spent the last 4 seasons mostly in Korea and has some previous ML experience with the Red Sox and Tigers. He's scheduled to start for OKC tonight in Las Vegas.

    our next signing

    Talkin’ Baseball@TalkinBaseball_
The Diamondbacks have DFA'd Madison Bumgarner, per @nickpiecoro. After he clears waivers, he’ll be released and free to sign with any club for the prorated MLB minimum.

How soon success casts one off...it wasn't long ago the Dbacks would have salivated over getting any scrub to fill out their once porous staff.
Now, we wish we could play the new game az well as they do.
Oh, btw, couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Or a more disgusting one. He'll probably be blowing snots out of his nose in Dodger Stadium next week.

Don't even joke about that. Couldn't imagine a worse possible signing for LAD.

Would love to see his career end unceremoniously with an 0-3 record and 10+ ERA. But I suspect some team will sign him.

I know he had the WS success, but I don't think it's enough any longer to get him into the Hall. It may have been a few years ago, but the fact that he hasn't had a winning season since 2016 has to have a huge negative effect on his case. I mean, for his career he's just 10 wins over .500. CK is +122 (and not done).

Nah, imo he's not HoF fodder at all. Inspite of that WS he had, it's not enough.
There's no comparison between him and CK. In fact that just over.500 lifetime W/ L record is just about spot on. I never got why he was a successful as he was...never could understand it. Every pitch looks the same to me, just higher or lower in the K zone.
    Feck him.
