    • 36 games into the season and Cody Bellinger has the highest WAR (1.6) since his MVP season, and is tied with Mookie Betts who leads his former club (the Dodgers) in WAR.
    never would have happened here
he needed a kick in the ass and he’s out to prove everyone wrong
that said, caveat emptor to the next team(s) that consider signing him

Dodgers' Dustin May out at least 1 month with elbow injury
    ESPN News Services | May 17, 2023

LOS ANGELES -- Less than a year after coming back from Tommy John surgery, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Dustin May is headed back to the injured list due to right elbow pain.

Manager Dave Roberts said after Wednesday's 7-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins that May has a flexor pronator strain and would miss at least one month, but didn't want to speculate beyond that.

Sources told ESPN's Alden Gonzalez that May's UCL is intact, relevant given that the right-hander is coming off reconstructive elbow surgery in May 2021.

May went only one inning Wednesday before exiting the game. He allowed one hit and struck out two.

"It's tough for Dustin, what he's had to go through," Roberts said. "He was throwing the baseball well this year and feeling good. Right now to have this speed bump, I know he's disappointed."

Roberts said he noticed early on that May's velocity was down and that he was moving his hand in a way that indicated something wasn't right. The average velocity of May's sinker and fastball were down two to three miles per hour compared to his first eight outings.

"He felt that it was just normal soreness like any starting pitcher has and obviously he felt good enough to make the start," Roberts said. "He was trying to lobby to stay in there and finish what he started, but we had to do what's best for him."

The 25-year old May has a 4-1 record with a 2.63 ERA. Opponents are batting .173 against May, which is second-lowest in the National League and sixth-lowest in the majors.

May, known for his long, flowing red hair, returned from reconstructive elbow surgery toward the end of last season and was 2-3 with a 4.50 ERA in six starts.

Dylan Covey, who was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City before the game, came in for May. Covey allowed two runs -- both homers -- in five innings.

Covey could be a candidate to take over May's spot in the rotation. The Dodgers lead the NL West with a 28-16 record. Their starting staff is fourth in the NL with a 3.77 ERA.

    That's Dr. fsu to you.

I've always thought May was ripe for arm injuries with how he finishes his pitches. That and those max effort sliders/cutters. That's a lot of torque.

Old friend Trea Turner is having a rough go in Philadelphia.

Getting boo'd endlessly while constantly striking out and playing shitty defense.

    • Dave Roberts (says he) feels bad for Justin Bruihl, who was a victim of “roster crunch”.
    dear dave,
if you had kept bruihl (who’s done well) and jettisoned almonte (who’s sucked balls) you wouldn’t have this problem
    fucken idiot

Hunter Feduccia is hitting .267 with OPS of .880 in AAA.
Let's say he can only get half of that in the majors: .134/.440.

    Barnes: .092/ .297. Just saying.

    @huh?

I'm not Catholic but the Dodgers just don't share the same values as me and I'll never support them again (granted, the last pitch I really cared about was demolished by Howie Kendrick - almost 4 years ago now).

Such a gross organization and not a single player stands up.

    its really shameful
spent the last two nights at Hollywood bowl and if you've ever been to a Cure show you know that crowd is pretty random
and yet there's everyone laughing and talking and getting along
last night my daughter and her wife/husband? were there and i found them in the stands
behind me was a cop and his young son and next to them were a group of dudes in makeup and dresses etc.
nobody gaf about what you look like and just focus on the show which was amazing btw
i just don't get the need for all the validation at this point cause pretty clearly people can be whoever they want
and she makes the best point because clearly if these "sisters" felt so strongly they'd do it in muslim garb but they know that would sign a for real death warrant
its just to pick on Christianity as a whole whether its the Dodgers or Disney
the key is if the Mexican buying public wakes up and stops supporting these institutions
but it sure seems as though dropping a few hundred a night on beer at the ravine is a major passtime
when will the aliens feel alienated and push back?
don't they have powerful religious leaders in their communities?
i'm pretty accepting of all, at least i think so, but enough is enough i agree
LGB needs to disconnect from the rest of these freaks and pedos
pretty clear its moved pretty fucking far from acceptance and seems like everyone w power is on board for some reason
can't stop watching games but i'm done w DS for a long time after this cave, maybe for good
btw the logistics of things held up mom's funeral and i was able to be a pallbearer
placed her 2020 championship hat in the tomb w her
maybe that's a fitting end to that story

Read in the NY Post, for those who might care, that Yankee pitchers, being interviewed about the possible implementation of automatic strike zone, replied with " it sucks".
" Way to small and forces pitchers to throw down the middle"...another reason to be annoyed by the fucking Yankees.
Somewhere, I forget exactly which league, a pitcher is allowed two challenges per game on called strikes they doubt were. Doesn't sound that bad if you're one of the adamant " must keep the human factor" in the game.
It helps pitchers getting scewed, but does zero for the guy at the plate who gets punched out on a clearly outside the zone pitch...a la Mookie the other night to end the game.

    He's baa-aack.

Vesia up, Stone down. I guess they figured since he got his ERA down to 4.66 in Oklahoma City, he's ready to contribute to the Dodgers.

I'm not getting how this helps with the starting rotation. I guess Julio is coming back soon ?
