I wonder if we are thinking of replacing Uribe at 3rd as well. The guys in the front office clearly don't like free swingers

I'm sorry to all the fantasy guys out there but this isn't a video game. There are no do overs or reset buttons. Kemp is the type of player you build a team around. You don't trade him for the shit we got in return. Not pleased to see one of our homegrown players shipped to a division rival for peanuts

Agree, but I would rather have part of the hope hinged on Matt Kemp than on Carl Crawford...

I'm not against trading Kemp, I'm against getting no impact value for him... They would have to turn those 2 prospects into Cole Hamels or the salary relief into Shields for it to make sense... But it looks like we are heading to many 2-1 losses...

I really hope to god there's more to this trade, surely they have something up their sleeves.

Kemp is in an unenviable situation now, though. Absolutely no protection (ATM), and the cavernous stadium is going to exasperate his problem defense and contain the power he is barely getting back.

Don't like seeing him 16 times a year, though.

This is obviously part of something bigger, namely Cole Hamels, as the Rollins deal hasn't been announced yet, but I don't see how adding a couple of B/B- guys in Eflin and Wieland helps get Hamels, we'll see.

How is this all about saving money? We paid all the money in the Miami deal, basically paid for high end prospects? Its almost certain we will have the highest payroll in baseball again next season. Are you sure this isn't just a chicken little reaction?

Kemp was the type of player you build a team around. In 2011.

    Grandal: 1.2 WAR
    Ellis: 0.0 WAR

If this deal results in Cole Hamels, I am good with it.

I'm honestly not too mad about this deal.

If we get Scherzer or Hamels I fully expect Grienke to be gone for some cool stuff.

These guys are definitely putting their stamp on the team.

Actually, they hinged on Kershaw showing in the playoffs.

They play in a pitchers ballpark. The roster should reflect that.

    Pitching
    Speed
    Contact
    SOME power

    Team concept
    Leadership

Play where you're asked and don't bitch about it. It isn't about you.

Just some things to think about

-The upgrade in Grandal from Ellis is pretty close to the downgrade from Kemp to Joc, even with your loftiest Kemp predictions

-Grandal will only get better, Kemp will only get older

-Money freed up in this deal will almost certainly be reallocated

That is the key, if this was a salary dump (which it wasn't) it's a bad deal, if it results in something else, likely a SP, it's fine.

Has there been a more hectic 24 hours for the Dodgers in their history? Hell, for any team? And it's not over yet! So much for it being boring lol. I still think we move another OF, its still log jammed.

Other thing that rivals this is probably the Boston trade, but this one is crazier in sense of different moves whereas that one was one singular move
