I know we already have a lot of pitching BUT

Wilmer Font is probably a guy to start watching... leads MILB in strikeouts and has been really good

Kind've a journeyman type guy although young enough... we've hit on a few late bloomers recently maybe another?

Not sure what to make of him, but it looks like his numbers this season are pretty on par for his MiLB career. Strikeouts are up a tick, so I wonder if he would thrive more in a relief role at this point?

Love the year he is having, just wish he would walk a bit more and K a bit less. Also, D is still not great... Not sure what you think, but maybe another 100 AB's in AA? Or probably get him through the trade deadline, then make a decision? I don't see him staying in Tulsa until September at his current rate.

If the FO is thinking trade you'd think they'd promote him but it them how many months to promote Kyle Farmer. I don't think this FO can pull the wool over the eyes of anyone else again so killing it in AA is a waste. I'm definitely keeping tabs on him.

Trevor Oaks named PCL pitcher of the week
by Daniel Starkand | Dodger Blue — 17 minutes ago

Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect Trevor Oaks, who plays for the organization’s Triple-A Oklahoma City affiliate, was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 29-June 4.

Oaks made one start this past week, and pitched seven shutout innings while giving up just two hits. He finished with seven strikeouts in an 11-1 victory over Triple-A New Orleans Baby Cakes (Miami Marlins affiliate). In the seven innings, Oaks retired 21 of the 23 batters he faced, including the last 17.

The right-hander also helped his own cause, launching a three-run home run to left field in the eighth inning. The homer was the first of Oaks’ career.

In 10 starts this season with Oklahoma City, Oaks is 2-1 with a 3.46 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. He has struck out 52 compared to only 10 walks in 54.2 innings of work.

Oaks was a seventh-round pick of the Dodgers in 2014 out of California Baptist University. This marks the third time in his career he has won Pitcher of the Week honors at the Minor League level; two have now come in the PCL.

His first PCL Pitcher of the Week honors came in August 2016, when he struck out 11 in a complete game.

It was last season that Oaks developed into a premiere pitching prospect, as he begin the year with High-A Rancho Cucamonga, and was promoted twice, first to Double-A Tulsa and then to OKC. He finished the season 14-3 with a 2.74 ERA in 24 starts between the three levels.

The 24-year-old has continued that success into this season, and could possibly make his Major League debut at some point in 2017.

Walker Buehler placed on 7-day DL but don't know why, anyone shed a light on it?

Oh my.... Willie Calhoun is starting in LF tonight. His play at 2B was said to be improving, but his bat has been stellar. This could be an interesting thing to keep an eye on. He played some OF in college and was rated below average there as well, but it was due to his poor foot speed and not much of an arm. His off season endurance training could help with one of those things, but not likely both. Odd that they would move him there when Verdugo is in the picture, but there are plenty of different reasons out there that the club could be considering this move. Would be interesting if he is the near future plans and the team is looking at Bellinger potentially in RF going forward....

Update: There has been a change to the OKC lineup and Willie is back at 2B. Will start playing LF this series.

Interesting... With a logjam at 2B (Forsythe, Taylor, Utley), and the position versatility of Bellinger, LF would seem to be an easier path to the majors in the short term.

Especially if Puig continues with his inconsistent play, it gives the team a great in house option down the stretch.

    What do you prefer?
Taylor at 2B and Calhoun in LF or the other way around?
The other way around may be more troublesome defensively.

Taylor at 2B and Calhoun in LF is probably the preferred alignment, assuming Calhoun is at least serviceable there. Rather have a liability in LF than 2B.

Hopefully the bat plays but if he can master more positions that'll be great for us. SVS is back from the dead, today in a make up game he went 3 - 4 and now hitting .254. Trayce still below the Mendoza line sadly.
