This is another power play as usual within the Lakers front office.
It looks like Pelinka/Kobe want to Luke and have been making sarcastic comments around the office about Magic never being at work.
    LeBrons team wants Luke fired.
Magic agrees. He is pro veteran superstars and that should not be a surprise he backs LeBron and his team.
KCP seems to be in the middle of a thing between Rich Paul/LeBron and Pelinka.
KCP nixed a deal Magic made to bring in Jabari Parker.
Magic did the right thing moving on.
Why today and not the day after the season is over is strange.
Which is why I think that this was Magic trying to make a point to Buss.

Magic sounds like he wants to go back to being part owner of the team and special consultant once Pelinka and LeBron have their run.
For now its all about the Dodgers!

In the next game of zones Kobe is gonna be in the shadow mamba crypt where he hexes magic and then LeBron while he injects his knee with snake blood to not only regain his basketball powers also evolve into his final form.

Lol Only Griffin that should be a Laker is maybe David Griffin. That'd probably have a big impact on Kyrie's decision this summer. Blake's now north of 30 years old with monster salary, obviously has always gotten banged up health-wise ( currently playing on 1 leg), and offers zero paint protection defensively. However, the FO ( whoever it's going to be going forward) would probably be interested in Andre Drummond. Still years away from turning 30 and a free agent after next season, Pistons could be willing to move him in the right deal. Send Flint/Michigan guy Kuz over the to Pistons along with Ingram if they'll take the poor guy. Maybe Zo goes as well, but idea would be to move the expensive, young assets and both Zo and Ingram qualify.

That way, after next season, the deck is clear and there's space to sign AD outright, even after trading for Drummond. Then all of a sudden you have AD x 2. A young Andre Drummond and a young Anthony Davis to go along with elder LeBron. Proven studs in their prime to build around beyond LeBron's stay. Add a couple shooters and dominate the interior. A simple structure. Davis has already admitted that he doesn't prefer to play center anyway, so Drummond manning that spot for the most part is a fit. Especially if you're trying to build a defense that could actually be championship caliber. With LeBron's defense moving downward, having two young/athletic/elite paint protectors that'll allow LeBron the freedom to read and play passing lanes on the defensive end, now that could work.

I'm 110% shocked at you, Geb. There has been no one @ DSP, no one, I say..that has complained more about the Dodgers not fully going all out and taking advantage of their championship window. But when the Lakers land a LeBron that's still the best player in the game and need to fully take advantage of his, let's say 3 year championship window, you wanted Magic to be patient?

If AD had made himself available by requesting a trade, and Magic had not gone after him while the Celtics were literally incapable of doing so by league rule, you would've killed him for that too. Magic obviously wasn't perfect, but some of these criticisms are just weird to me.

1st thing Magic had to do was rid LAL of a snitch and bad contracts left from the previous regime. He definitely didn't walk into the ideal situation and then to have Jeanie meddling wasn't great either, but he leaves behind a max salary slot, a lottery pick, multiple young assets, and LeBron James. Maybe 85% of the league would sign up for those tools. Sad ending, especially when you consider that it all came crashing down on an injury to LeBron, but Magic is still the GOAT Laker.

Didn't think I'd see any optimism today, but here it is.
Knicks are about to land Durant and maybe another star.
We wish we were the Knicks west

Agree. It's makes how he handled yesterday's events all the more puzzling (to be kind).

It was a weak ass way to leave the organization and his "sister" Jeannie Buss.

We'll find out the truth soon enough in terms of why he did it in that fashion, not letting her know. All I know right now is that Magic wanted to move on from Luke and meddling Jeanie wouldn't allow it. So that's one clue

As for all the " love " talk and how he wants to continue to be close with Jeanie..we've known Magic long enough to know that he'll say whatever to look good in front of the camera

Jeanie hasn't done nearly enough yet to be meddling in the affairs of the people running the basketball side of things. Whomever she hires, I hope she agrees to stay the fuck outta the way.

Dr. Buss was a meddling owner, tried to make several trades on his own, but only after he attained 2 or 3 championships. This Linda Rambis shit is a joke

I truly wish the Buss family would sell. They, like Magic Erv, are in over their heads.

Can't blame you for feeling that way. For me, I'm gonna give her another run at it. She's new and mistakes were going to happen..learn from those mistakes and be better. But mostly, just get out of the way. We know how close Byron is with Magic and he just said similar..like look, you hired me to do this job and you're giving me shit for wanting to fire Luke Walton? Luke Walton?

And now it's being said that Jeanie was also protecting Pelinka from Magic's hammer..Pelinka who's actually the one who got caught tampering with Paul George ( which Magic took the hit for). The NBA found Pelinka's texts to George's agent. And here's another nugget on Pelinka..the Pels wouldn't even talk to Pelinka because of what he did in the past as an agent with his client Eric Gordon when he was there.

Pelinka is just sounding worse and worse in this..he reportedly was calling attention to the fact that Magic wasn't around a whole lot. And Magic should have been there more, no doubt, but that's some backstabbing BS..especially when the real reason this particular team fell apart is because LeBron, Kuz, Zo, and Ingram played a total of 23 games together. But I digress, David Griffin says the job is still appealing because of what Magic/Jeanie/Pelinka put in place in young assets, the lottery pick, the max salary slot and LeBron. But the FO needs the overhaul before they remake the roster. Both Pelinka and Luke are gonna have to go and because Jeanie wouldn't allow Magic to do it, she's going to have to fire them. Even if she makes a hire @ prez, and that prez fires them, it's still going to be on her hands.

That's the worst part. He completely fucked the team for FA this summer.
Who would want to come to this shitshow.

To be fair, those questions were already being asked before he stepped down, right? This does give LAL a chance to clean up a bit and hell, who knows, maybe the Pels will be willing to deal with LAL if there's a new FO? The Pels themselves are putting a new FO in place as well, so maybe both teams can just reset and try again

    How?
Jeannie seems to be the common thread here.
How did Jerry West end up outside the franchise?
He should have been made part owner and president of operations for life.
    Instead we got more Phil.

There is more to this story.
Why be given the Presidents job and be shackled with a GM that has zero experience and is loathed by team executives?
Nobody wants to make deals with him. They want Magic.
Magic was hired to oversee but his underlings undermined him when they could not get anything done.
Jeannie 'loves' everyone and that may be her weakness. That is not love.
She loves Magic and let him run the team, gives him full power and control but loves Luke and does not want to be the one to essentially crush his career aspirations by firing him.
Magic was ready to be the bad guy yet again. He takes the hit for the organization so Jeannie comes off like the princess she always does.
And even then Jeannie calls him up for a 3 hour meeting that is essentially about how much she loves Luke and Pelinka.
Magic wants both out as they are both inexperienced in championship basketball.
Pelinka is the one that kept messing up and Magic took the blame.
The only true tampering was with Paul George. Pelinka was texting him directly and the NBA found out.
Magic took the fall for that but then later when he made innocuous comments about other NBA players the league essentially saw him as a now repeat offender and started throwing the book at him.
That was another retarded move by someone lacking in experience. Silver should have known better.
Magic does not need to put up with this shit, he is not a jobber.

Even Woj had to take a shot at Tragic

    @wojespn 18h18 hours ago
Since taking over as president of the Lakers, Magic Johnson never fully committed to the job. Often he was traveling and away from the team. His office hours were limited. He didn't do a lot of scouting. Running an NBA team takes a tremendous commitment of time and energy.
    @wojespn 18h18 hours ago
Lakers coaching staff fully expected to be fired in hours after the final game of the season. They had believed they were gone for months. Now? Magic quits in public, saying he's too scared to tell Jeanie Buss face-to-face. What an embarrassing episode for a historic franchise.
