then they were mandatory
now its being genuinely questioned how unhealthy it is to wear these things all day OR stay inside
have you seen the people in distress wearing face mask sweating and gasping for breath?

In short- droplet precautions are what we need to pay attention to. This would be transmitted through coughing, sneezing or talking.

positive symptomatic, asymptotic or non positive should wear them while in contact with other people. So basically everyone. You just don’t know who is carrying the virus.

not all masks are created equal but these CDC recommendations are based off surgical masks which are On the lower side of the efficacy chart and N- 95 masks far superior.

not much real data available on cloth DIY masks as any real infectious disease organization cannot comment obviously because they don’t have material specs etc. plus, there is no manufacturer instructions for use with testing etc.

IDK I’ve worn them for 23 years as standard PPE when working with contact precautions patients and it’s just second nature. So maybe I’m bias in a weird way and don’t see it as unusual.

You clearly have zero idea about economics if you think the impending crisis is entirely due to covid-19. Prior to covid-19, some of the biggest macro imbalances we have ever seen already existed. And then on top of that, Trump’s protectionist policies weakened the economy and ruined global supply chains at absolutely the worst possible time. If you think opening the economy today will magically fix all those imbalances and prevent an economic collapse then you are in for a rude surprise.
