Add Ken Rosenthal to the growing list of people that think the Dodgers and Trevor Bauer eventually come to terms. It makes sense if he really does want the short term thing, but there is some belief that he may no longer be perusing that route. I’m torn on the guy... if he’s the same pitcher as last season, great! If he takes a step back and his attitude becomes a thing again, not great!

I think we all know he’s not gonna be the Cy Young of this past year. Contract year plus obvious use of pine tar to stick it to MLB

One year? Sure. More than that and that eats into money for guys like Seager, Buehler and Bellinger

Tribe beginning to " aggressively listen " to offers for Lindor. Passan saying Yankees are out. Should also say this for Seager on the topic of position....if for some reason he's not able to handle 3B, feels like a situation where he eventually finds his home @ 1B. Think we can all agree that he has the classic look of a 1B. Would suck taking 1B opps away from Belli, but he's golden in the OF too so whatever. If Lindor still has eyes for LAD's SS position, feels like the FO should be aggressively reaching out to CLE's douche lawyer/CEO and rekindling those talks from last year. After Seager was shopped at a low point last year, would be a little surprised to learn that he's not available a year later with more value coming off WS MVP..with Boras also likely wanting to capitalize before Seager gets hurt again. Actually any agent that's worth a damn would want Seager to cash in immediately and teams are out there. Dombrowski/Philly can come for Seager and cash him out..may be an opportunity to play the Mets and Phillies against one another since they both wanna make some noise. We take Lindor off the market and let the Mets/Phillies haggle with Boras over Seager

One question is..how many WS MVP's have been traded the subsequent offseason? Feels like a solid trivia question. And how many of those guys have had Boras as their agent? Should probably be considered as well. Off the top of my head..of course Cey was dealt to the Cubs and that wasn't long after his co WS MVP in '81. Probably doesn't look the best from a PR standpoint, and maybe it was easier to make that move because they still had co MVP buddies Petey and Yeager, but Cey did get shipped out. That one stands out. Both Livan Hernandez and Frank Viola had similar timelines..won WS MVPs and got shipped out not too long after. 1st guy to ever switch teams immediately after winning WS MVP - Ray Knight - went from the Mets to the O's after '86. Halos eventually moved off Troy Glaus a season or two after he brought it home..Marlins/Beckett, same. Shit happens

And to your point about his attitude: Trevor is always gonna be Trevor. He’s a weird dude but not Grinke weird. Douchebag weird. And that kind of personality is only tolerated if he’s great again like he was this year.

It was funny reading all the "oh fuck's" going around when we signed him. It is not like we are the ones responsible for these guys turnarounds. Taylor, Turner and Muncy all did it on their own time right before they came to us. I'm also still biter about letting Donovan Solano get away. That would have been the icing on the cake!

I have said this multiple times, the people that know/knew him do not have great things to say. His whole recent thing about being an outcast and bullied growing up is all on him. It was not cause he was "weird". It was cause he's a dick. If you are an elite athlete, you are going to get a pass growing up that allows you to get away with more and have people put up with extra shit. You have to be a complete dickhead to be an elite athlete and still "get picked on". I knew some weird kids growing up and in college that were good athletes, you still make friends, you're still not picked on. You may have other guys that don't like you and they may give you shit, but you still are going to have a large segment of the school population look up to you and want to be your friend. The way the narrative on this dude has shifted in the span of 12 months is total bullshit.

The Dodgers have signed Brandon Morrow to an MiLB deal with an invite to MLB camp. We all know that this a low cost gamble with monster upside.

When will we get a better idea of whether Treinen, Pederson, and/or Hernandez are staying or going.

Seems like longer term strategy will depend somewhat on what holes to fill if they leave.

Kikè is almost certainly gone as there are some kids that need a shot. Joc is gone unless he is not getting anything when it comes to offers. Treinen is PROBABLY gone as I could see someone dumb giving him a multi-year deal to be a closer, but in this current market maybe he has to come back. If someone offers Treinen a multi-year deal, he should take it. His numbers in 2020 were once again not great and fell closer to his career numbers. 2018 looks to be an anomaly, not the norm.

The Boston Globe is reporting that Justin Turner is looking for a 3 year deal... not sure where he would get that.

Dodgers? Old enough to remember fan fave/heart of the team Kersh hitting FA when his numbers were still respectable, but his stuff was clearly fading and he was dealing with more and more injuries and month long absences. Dodgers rewarded him anyway

Fan fave and heart of the team label? Check. Injuries mounting? Check. Talent fading, but numbers still respectable? Check. Payroll picture is in a little different spot and Rios is around, but things can always change, particularly with a creative lead exec. So long as Turner can drag himself to the plate in the postseason, any team that needs a decorated hitter VS postseason caliber pitching is probably checking in with at least a 2yr offer to get into the game. Wouldn't shock me if he's already seen a couple 2yr offers..could be why he's now " looking for 3 yrs ". With Rios and Muncy locked up for years, they could be seen as backup whenever Turner needs it. Seager, as well, at least for next season. No shortage of options to help Turner get through seasons and enter OCT fresh enough to do what he does

IIRC, Turner took less money to stay with LAD the 1st time around. Think it was the Cardinals that offered him more..not sure, but that's enough of a nightmare

Have to say it'd suck to lose Turner a couple years after handing AJ Pollock 5yrs/$60MM. Figure it out.

Turner didn't REALLY take less. He made a business decision to stay. It cost money to move. He's got off field investments based in So Cal. He also bet on the Dodgers winning.

Fast forward two years and you have a 36 year old ballplayer who is oft injured, completely immobile due to some bad stems. Players fall off a cliff at 36. That goes double for guys with bad legs. His power will soon be gone. At that point you will have a contact hitter with no movement and can't play defense.

I'm a huge Turner fan. However, I will bet everything that whoever signs Turner this year will be very upset with that co tract after year one.
