He’s never fixed that hole in his swing, that low inside pitch mostly out of the strike zone that he blindly swings at all the time.

I know he likes golfing pitches, but my god, screw on you head man. Learn how to hit, not just mash.

I know you're just joking, but I have no issue with the HR there. I'd be more irritated with a walk, even if it didn't end up scoring.

Also, maybe Kenley got the big fly out of his system for a while.

Man watching the Braves is frustrating, especially Ozzie Albies who swings and misses at every pitch.

The inner stat man in me was antsy so I decided to do some basic - but telling - research. Actually, "telling" is an understatement. It's pretty eye-opening.

Dodgers have five losses in September. I don't think anyone would argue the fact that these were all critical with regards to winning the division.

Here are the scores of those five games, along with Bellinger's numbers in each:

    * Lost to SF, 3-2. CB started, went 0-3, with 2 K's and 1 LOB
    * Lost to SF, 6-4. CB started, went 0-3, with 1 K and 2 LOB
    * Lost to StL, 5-4. CB started, went 0-3. (With 0 K's and 0 LOB, this becomes his de facto best game of the five.)
    * Lost to StL, 2-1. CB started, went 0-4, with 2 K's and 3 LOB
    * Lost to CIN, 3-1. CB started, went 0-4, with 2 K's and 1 LOB

So in totaling it all up, CB started each game, went 0-17 with 7 K's and 7 LOB. Calculating his BA, OBP, SLG, and OPS is quite simple... it's a .000 for each. But more importantly, ALL FIVE games were there for the taking. None were lost by more than two runs; three were one-run differentials. All we needed were a couple hits from him and we could've won one or two. Just think what that would've done to the standings.

To think that he's not hurting us because we're still winning most games is simply untrue. I doubt he's been instrumental in any of the September wins, even with his defense. But I'd argue we'd have a couple more wins if someone else started those five.

Look, I understand that Davey and management might believe he's too good a talent to not try to get right. I'll even accept that he hasn't fully recovered from off-season surgery and once he does, his hitting will improve. But this lineup, with this pitching staff does not need him right now or in the playoffs this year. We have all the pieces, without him, to go all the way. With Lux heating up and AJ due back soon, the ONLY decision that Dave should be making when filling out the lineup card is which three of Mookie, CT, AJ, and Lux to pencil in. And when he needs a PH in a key spot and looks down his bench, Cody should be nowhere near it.

Shut him down for the year, let him work on getting right for next season, and who knows, we just might pull out this division yet.

Very interesting...a yeoman 's job there.
You could throw a really free radical in the mix, too...and find that Buehler, when we get very close to the Giants, just doesn't do it like he does the rest of the time. Along with the obvious offensive woes.

Got another one for you all...

LAD September record in Bellinger starts: 6-5
LAD September record in non-Bellinger starts: 6-0

Can't get any easier to see than that.

    Gnats lose... 1 GB.

Needless to say, we need to step up and go 6-0 against COL and ARI - I don't care that they're road games. Winning teams do that this time of year. Of course, Davey could still Davey...

Feels so good to have him on the mound again instead of watching a bullpen game.
