I don’t get it. I know that if a ball hits a player and goes over the fence, that is a home run. I know that if a ball bounces in the field and then goes into the stands, it’s a ground rule double most of the times.

If there is fan interference, it’s a ground rule double too.

So how could a ball bounce off the fence, hit a player, then go into the stands and then nothing counts….it’s not even a hit? It’s gotta be a double no?

If a ball is popped up inbounds, a player hits the ball trying to catch it, and then goes out of bounds, that’s a hit, no?

 

it was ruled a double but the worst part was the runner was rounding third as the ball bounced off his body and into the stands
should have scored that run at the very least

 

Apparently the letter of rule was followed. Just a shitty break for TB.

 

I mean, I like it and I don't. It sounds promising, but ideally you aren't tweaking with mechanics this last in the season. You'd like to have a guy like Scherzer feeling like he's locked in before the post-season starts.
