Interesting situation if that happens. Both would be revenge series as both were involved in cheating accusations.

For my money, I want the Astros.

As much as I'd love to beat the Asterisks down, I'd rather they not even reach the WS.

As long as Boston keeps giving us their overpriced ethnic players we should be good

pick as many as you think/like
i didn't include duffy or hamels since neither pitched for us this season
kelly not a free agent, but included because dodgers can buyout his last $12m year for $4m
bauer not included because who knows wtf is going on with him/his case

I really only see Taylor, Kershaw and Kelly.

Taylor because he has obviously proven his value as a utility guy. Kelly, mostly because he is already under contract and it feels safe to keep him around vs. buying him out.

It's not typical of this front office, but I see them keeping Kershaw around. I think the ownership group will push for this vs. Friedman. Mark Walter and Magic have been outspoken about keeping CK around, and I see it being a similar situation to Kobe with the Lakers. They will knowingly and willingly pay him more then he's worth to keep him in Dodger blue forever.

scherzer because no way the dodgers knowingly give up gray and ruiz without getting him for more than one year

taylor because the team loves versatility, and ct3 exemplifies the term

albert because he’ll be cheap and put butts in seats (and will still occasionally run into one)

knebel because he’s a great pen option and will still be relatively inexpensive

I think Seager is gone. We’re not going to pay him $300M.

We’re getting thin in the minors department too, no?

If I to rank them in order of likelihood I’d go:
    1 Kershaw
    2 Scherzer
    3 Taylor
    4 Kenley
    5 Pujols
    6 Knebel
    7 Seager

I’m not including Kelly because he has a 12m dollar team option, 4 million dollar buyout. Dodgers have to decide if he’s worth 8 million, and that is really really difficult. I’m not including Souza because he isn’t anything. Knebel could see closer money elsewhere. The only ones I am really confident in are Kershaw and Scherzer. I think the Yankees are the only team that can sign Seager away but Seager is just going to come down to cold hard cash. I think Friedman wants him back but the cost could be prohibitive

I also don’t want Pujols back. He’s good against lefties but he doesn’t offer one single other thing. Bad defense, slower than a turtle, can’t hit right handers. Dodgers need to focus on acquiring depth that can play multiple positions and be competent at the plate vs RH and LHers

Taylor--love the versatility and that playoff moments (his baserunning gaff aside) aren't too big for him.

Scherzer--38 and a Boras client. I don't see this as doable.

Kershaw--hopefully they can get him back on a Wainright-type deal. He's injured every year so anything longer would be foolish.

Seager--another Boras client, but a 27 yr old in his prime as a hitter. Really hate to lose him.

Kenley--rose from the dead this year, a short stretch in July aside. Two year deal. He wasn't just good. He was dominant.

Tio--adios Alberto. Too limited to keep with the few position players they keep on the roster these days.

Mariachi Joe--keep him. Don't let him get away for $4 mil.

Knebel--one year deal and nothing more. Good bullpen piece, but another injury waiting to happen.

    Souza--please no.

    Nelson--see Souza, S.

None of it matters...unless the new Covid variant alters the season like it did in 2020.
Then perhaps we can fall into a championship, like last season brought to us.
Otherwise, signing all or none of them, will make no difference at all, ultimately.

I think they resign Scherzer, Kershaw, Jansen, and Taylor. Seager will be in pinstripes. Hopefully we have a much improved bench and we never hear names like Sheldon Neuse or Steven Souza ever again

Roberts hoping for contract extension this offseason
by Clint Pasillas | Dodgers Nation — 5 hours ago

As we already touched on, this coming offseason (which starts upon the completion of the World Series) is sure to be a busy one for Andrew Friedman and the Dodgers. In fact, it really could be one of the most transformative offseasons in years for LA with several franchise stalwarts heading to free agency.

One area where the organization is seemingly set is with the coaching staff. Barring another club looking at potentially filling openings in their organization, the entire staff is expected to return for 2022. Still, the topic of a contract extension for manager Dave Roberts was addressed over the weekend by Jorge Castillo of the LA Times.

Jorge reached out to Dave regarding his contract status. Here’s an excerpt.

Roberts, 49, said he has not had discussions with the organization regarding a possible extension. He said he “fully” expects to manage the Dodgers in 2022 whether a new agreement is reached or not. But he prefers a contract extension.

“I know I got another year left and it’s just kind of expecting, hoping, that they come to me and we can work something out, I guess,” Roberts said when reached by phone Sunday. “And, if not, you just kind of do your job and play out the contract.”

Roberts signed a four-year contract extension after the 2018 season. Then, he was coming off leading the Dodgers to back-to-back National League pennants and World Series losses. Since that deal was inked, the team won its first title since 1988 but also has been bounced early in the playoffs — the NLDS in 2019 and this year, the NLCS.

The concept of a contract extension here just days after LA’s game 6 loss to the Braves is sure to ruffle the feathers of some Dodger fans. But you can’t argue that the man gets results and gets guys to buy into the collective mentality. Andrew Friedman also seems to be a fan of Doc.

“Dave has been a big part of our past success and we fully expect him to be a large part of our future success as well.”

Roberts told Castillo that LA is where he wants to be. And when you’ve led a club to 106 wins in each of the last two full big league seasons, that should be good enough to tack on at least a few more years as a courtesy.
