I have no insight on Trea Turner and the way he thinks...but, quite possibly...he's saying to himself, " they waited until they didn't get Juan, so now they offer me an extension...fuck them".
Seems quite possible. But who knows what they will dangle in front of him?
    Or what SD will ?
Just saying, that thought process is plausible from Turner.
That's of course, if they do offer him an extension.
Who's gonna take his place and be him ? Gavin Lux ?
    Nah...
    I don't think so.

Just saw the trade....first the prospects the Pads are giving up are NOT their top 4. Only 2 rank. Abrams is a light hitting SS, Gore is a legit ROY but just got lit up Sat. Hassell is prob #1 or #2 depending on the list. Wood is #2 or #4 depending on the list. Susana is like in the #10-15 range. On top of that they are taking Hosmer. The Dodgers def could have beat that package headlining it with Lux/Miller/Cartaya. IMO, MGT chose to not bid on Sosa. I kinda wonder if they are holding out hope they can pry Ohtani away in the winter.

Made it to the dentist and now for the waiting game
Eh I would have loved getting Soto and of course SD just got better but he's one man
I couldn't have stomached losing what I was hearing it would cost
We aren't done and I feel fine
W the exception of my face but that's temporary

Seeing what SD gave up im not sure those reports were correct on what we would have needed to give up. Im fine for trading for the Marlins Lopez and signing Trea to an extension

If I think about this rationally, Padres are about to add Tatis, Soto, Bell, and Hader to an already pretty good team. They very most likely don't catch us in the standings, but definitely aren't someone I want to see in the playoffs.

We are having a great season and I think there’s a solid chance we finish with the best record overall. I just don’t feel great about the postseason. We still have Craig Kimbrel closing games for us…unless we plan on blowing everyone out in the postseason, I can’t feel optimistic about a WS. SD definitely has the better closer now as do most teams in the league. Imagine facing SD in the NLDS and entering the 9th up 1 with Craig facing Tatis-Soto-Machado. How does the rotation shape up? Do we trust Gonsolin in big games? We don’t have that one real elite starting pitcher we can truly trust in a do or die game. The pitching issues still exist if we acquired Soto, but generational players like him are rarely available and now we get to see a lot of him. Didn’t go well in 2019.

We will get Trienan back and i bet May is added to the bullie like Urias was 2 years ago. Im only worried that MGT will keep Kimbrel as the closer.

I would've been fine including Cartaya and maybe one of Miller or Pepiot along with some lower prospects. Oh, and they would've had to take Bellinger. I may value Lux higher than most here, but I think he'll be a future multiple year all-star, and I would've HATED seeing him go. The same goes for May. Glad we still have them. Sign Trea to an extension and maybe Soto will come over in two years.

Im still in the Ohtani camp. It MGT can trade for him or sign him after the 2023 season then im fine letting Soto go to the pads.

Why have one .160 hitter who Ks a lot when you can have two?

Too bad the vaGiants would never help us out

    Rodon/Joc would be appealing

Yeah, the time to get Soto was NOW...then he'll be 26 or whatever, and he'll shoot for the 1/2 billion $ contract. And the National haul was not as good as I thought it would have to be.
We could've topped it, and should've.
