I drive through Linden pretty often, which is not something many people around here can say as it's not a major route. It's one of those sneeze-and-you-miss-it orchard towns in the central valley. Every time I do, I can't help but to think about what it must've been like for Judge to grow up there - pretty much the opposite extreme of where he is now. It's cool that he's still humble and hasn't let the success get to his head. An easy comparison for me is Barry Bonds, because I have friends who went to high school with him in San Mateo, and he was a pompous asshole even back then - referring to himself in the 3rd person, for example. Shows the difference in growing up within modest means vs growing up privileged. That's a generalization - I know there are exceptions in both cases. But to me the Aaron Judges of the world should be viewed as heroes and role models to our youth and the Barry Bonds of the world should be written off by the media - unfortunately, that's not how it works.

Side note... with Josh Allen growing up in Firebaugh, CA, you have arguably the biggest (or close to) stars of two major sports hailing from unheard of NorCal farming towns - what are the odds?

always move through Fresno as quickly as possible
last time i was there it was to pick up a girl who was visiting/staying w a friend up there
got a little lost for a minute and ended up in the seedy area and that was as scary as being in Watts ffs
area i found her in was pretty decent

Judge is the real deal. Genuine good guy with good roots.

There are a shit load of as you say sneeze and miss it towns in the Valley along the 99. Just south of me you have Tipton, Pixley and Earlimart all within about a 15 mile stretch.

Firebaugh is typical of those towns, too. It's located along the I-5 on the west side of the Valley.

Weed Patch is at the southern end of Valley near Bakersfield. The turnoff for the Bakersfield airport (flew east out of their yesterday) is called Merle Haggard Drive. Not mocking the great Merle, just pointing out that's what Bakersfield is all about

You don't dick around in west Fresno. Fresno has some very nice areas, though. Doesn't show well from the 99 to say the least. Homeless, seedy hotels, junk yards and the fucking boondoggle known as high speed rail.

I can't fault Kershaw for his last few starts as he's been dealing with things bigger than baseball. Hopefully though, he can bring his best tonight. We're at a huge disadvantage with tomorrow's starters, and while I love (homo, no doubt) how Miller has come out of the gates, it's too early to have expectations that he'll be able to continue with that success.

I missed that about Kershaw - glad to hear. Hate to see what the team is becoming. Hopefully it stops soon and I sense that more corporations will see what happened to Anheiser Busch and think twice before going public with their wokeness. At least that's my hope.

Why don't these SOPI dudes dress up, instead of as nuns and doing pole dances on crucifixes, dress up as Imams and diss Mohammed and make fun of Islam?
    Huh?
It's not like are they afraid of that or something is it ?

thing is its either acceptance or its not
no one should be mocking anyone for their religious belief or personal preferences period
and there is literally no excuse for the rest of these players not to support CK and Blake for that reason
these guys are giant pussies, all of them, for not doing what's right imo
if Mookie for one spoke out, it would change everything about this situation and these woke virus hypocrites
its sanctioned hatred being honored because it targets people who believe in God
even if they aren't religious this is the place to stand up and be counted
    right here right now

This is how it is done.
    Kershaw's response was weak, imo.

Very solid game by Kershaw - just what was needed.
