I'm okay with being stuck with Pollock. He is a top ten LF in every metric and his production outweighs his yearly weighted salary. Plus he is a well loved dude. He's the kind of guy you win with.

When will Oakland ever learn? Ethier for Milton Bradley, Montas for Hill and the scruffy looking fuckhead, Muncy for a bag of used baseballs and now Neuse who even looks like Muncy!

(I can't post a pic but look at the dude! LOL)

It should be noted that LF is the weakest position, by far, in baseball.

Interesting that with younger players, right field is the weakest position on the field. Even in high school . Maybe not varsity but definitely freshman/ JV.

Jansen will still be the closer unless the front office doesn’t want him to, that’s a call they’re all making and sticking with. Personally, during the regular season it’s not the biggest of deals, he’s good enough for that until he isn’t (like blowing save after save.. a save here or there isn’t the biggest of deals). He’s still good enough to be there and the 6-8 innings are typically higher leverage and I don’t want him there.

The big thing is the playoffs. And, they hopefully realize that they won the World Series by managing with Jansen out of the picture and only with big leads, but you use other guys as your closers. You manage how the end of the NLCS and World Series were managed.

I would’ve liked to see Jansen traded but that ain’t happening, and he’s a big enough pouter that he’s either the closer or you have to DFA him which would be silly

it’s a high class problem to have though tbh

Unpopular opinion, but he had a very good regular season outside of those back-to-back outings against Arizona then Houston.

Obviously the way he imploded in game 4 wasn't great, and Joe Kelly had to save the day in that game against the Padres.

Honestly, I think they are going to rely on the 7 starters (should they all be healthy) for so many innings in the postseason that certain relievers will get squeezed out.

the way dave successfully managed the bp and situation at the end of last year is going to carry over imo
he's going to eat some innings, close some games, and be on a team that's hopefully going to go b2b
i think the era of him as THE man is over and still he can be useful
finishing his career on championship squads should be enough for him to shelve his ego
its a shame to see him visibly smirking when other guys have success closing games
but i guess its just who he is
