Gnats are already down one. If this holds, they'll get swept by the worst team in either league. Good stuff.
My first Dodger game was a loss to the Astros in April of 1971. Osteen pitched poorly and Bill Russell lead off and went 0fer. So, I'd say Lopes. But Brett Butler was pretty damn good, but just didn't stay long enough to be numero uno.
What an honor. I always thought that being at the game where Ventura charged Nolan Ryan would've been cool, but CHP kicking Belcher is awesome as well.
In a goy society the genteel make laws forcing gentlemen to display their aggressiveness in lawful ways that won't bring about a felony but merely a misdemeanor. In many cultures over time it has been illegal to use an open fist. Adjudicators know thr law so when dealing with the gentile they give the other cheek. At the end of the story thr slapper always comes off as weak.
Sure were. Saw a game in Jersey City, when the Dodgers played each team in the NL once in Roosevelt stadium. 7 games, lol. It was Don Newcombe vs. Johnny Antonelli, a damn good NYG pitcher. I was.just a kid, but I think they both went all the way...Dodgers lost 1-0, on a Willie HR. Posted this before. They didn't pinch hit for Newk back them...he could rake at the plate. Where would something like that happen again? I don't believe it possible in today's game, or at least highly improbable. Another reason why I think Orel's record stands forever.
yeah, no one’s breaking orel’s record i looked back on 1971, since that’s the year @Finski alluded to the dodger staff had 50 complete games that season sutton had 18 osteen, 14 and al downing, 7 boggles the mind
i remember hearing of some crazy game, back in the day, involving juan marichal and warren spahn took a little digging but i found it… https://www.baseball-almanac.com/box-scores/boxscore.php?boxid=196307020SFN
Crazy. Doc would pull either guy in the 5th for a lefty-righty matchup. Then either pitcher would beat Roberts to death with a fungo and we'd never have had to deal with his shit management. All we need now is a DeLorean with a flux capacitor...
Yeah, I think we were a day late and a dollar short on this signing... particularly considering how well most of the rest of the pen has pitched.
Very interesting...not that he is a prophet, but Russo makes a valid point in picking the Mets over LA to win the pennant. They have better starting pitching for sure, without a doubt. Assuming all factors are healthy, Buehler,Urias and Kershaw are not equal to Max, deGrom, etc. Just not as good. Way not. ...and as a rider to the whole thing, 31 out of 48 games LA has played were against below .500 teams. S9me way below. Like the one that we shit the bed against last night.
No problems, mate. All is quiet on the western front...Dave Roberts, who guarantees a Dodger championship this year, has responded with an assuring" I'm not worried about Craig Kimbrel". Phew...and here I am, thinking a 9 + ERA is a bad thing, with a blown save in a possibly great comeback W against a team who flogs us at will...
11 of those (I believe it is actually 41) are against the Diamondbacks, who are 2-9 vs the Dodgers and 22-17 vs everyone else. Dodgers are 6-1 vs +.500 teams. Dodgers also won't be playing many of them because there are only 5 other teams in the NL above .500
I don't see how it changes anything at all about the point of the stat I wrote. They still are beating below .500 teams in the majority of wins, and what those teams do against others is irrelevant. We'll see what they do soon enough...i.e. Mets, Astros, Brewers, etc. If they continue as they are now, then that stat I wrote about, will be rendered moot. I sure hope so. Like ragging on Freeman 's Gold Glove calibre and highly respected defense for years.
Kiss my ass...no reason to go off and insult me. What are you, the voice of baseball knowledge ? Never saw the game like you do, never will, and real glad about that...and your Freeman rant wins the dumb trophy, since you mention it.
