and i call bullshit on the idea that a guy's not tired in October, going on 3 days rest and nearing 100 pitches. Kershaw is human. if he wasn't tired, or gettin him outta there wasn't an option, why have Baez throwing BEFORE Kershaw gave up the 1st hit of the inning?

also, not sure what game you watched, but Holliday's ball was well hit up the middle. Gordon got a glove on it because he's Gordon, but Kershaw hung that curveball to Holliday too. he then left a slider, that had no break, out over the plate against Peralta and Peralta hit it hard - he was just out in front of it. the 91MPH fastball that Peralta hit past Hanley was well hit as well.

look, Mattingly pulled Kersh after 91 pitches last year when he went on short rest and should've done the same this year. Kersh was at 94 pitches after the 6th..should've been done.

 

you want Kersh to go back out for the 7th?..at least have your very best reliever warm and ready should Kersh get in a jam and you need to defuse an immediate threat. and that's exactly what Kersh was in..a jam. those weren't weak hits up the middle. both balls were squared up and well hit..the curveball hung to Holliday and the 91MPH fastball to Peralta just didn't have enough steam on it. don't get Baez up..have Kenley ready.

and he didn't bench Puig because he thought Puig would respond well..he benched Puig because he thought it'd help them get a damn win that night, so i'm callin bullshit on the " respond well " garbage.

I'm not one to normally second-guess leaving Kershaw in, but it was obvious Kershaw was gassed in the 7th inning of game 4. Both hits he gave up before the homerun were well hit. I blame Kershaw, Mattingly, and even AJ for all being in denial.

As far as the pen, I agree with B2B, if the pen is shit then we need to be more creative. Why are we waiting to bring in Kenley? And did I miss something, was Dan Haren even in St Louis?

 

I know I was against trading for Price a few months back... but he would have looked awfully nice in a Dodger uniform against the Cardinals.

 

It wasn't the starting pitching that lost us the series. Bullpen, bullpen, bullpen. Crappy hitting played a role also.

i think so too and Ryu, coming back from injury, could have been used out of the bullpen - bolstering us there..and damn the way Ryu threw the ball, it would've been nice having him available in the pen.

 

and that probably could've gotten us home field and not in a 5 game series with those fuckers
