So a rookie makes his debut and Don leaves him out there to face a lefty and give up a run when we have two lefties in the pen.

Then he lets a guy who has struggled go out for another inning and struggle in the beginning, to load the bases to bring in someone struggling even more. He didn't have another option with League, but maybe he coulda brought him in sooner to minimize damage. But nah man, lets have the Dbacks score 4 runs.

Then he never pinch hits Puig until the whatever inning it was, and he gets a single.

Don. Mattingly.

 

Two four run innings to win the two games they won this series. Bullshitpen....

coulda been a huge series win. We fucking had all 3 games, those are the games you needa win to make a comeback but nope. Not happening.

Stan and Ned can say "Oh we're waiting for health" and sure, we are. But what if it never comes? It's June and Hanley has played less than Puig. Our infield has 1 real hitter. We don't even know what Kemp is.

You have to do something, but nope, just stick with the plan and then they'll make a run for the 2nd wild card, come up short, and be like "well, next year we'll have health!"

Donnie has a formula
He doesn't sense trouble before it happens. He's always behind the 8 ball and on the defensive. He forces himself to react and he does so far too late.
We aren't asking for him to be perfect. This game was not his 'fault' we know the BP blows. They're gonna give up runs. BUT, his inability to LIMIT damage is what makes him terrible. He has no sense for the game.
And the bunting is getting ridiculous.

He plays for one run on both sides of the ball way too often. Like on defense, its as if he acts like "well, I either am going to have them score 0-1 runs or just blow it open.. lets stick with this guy and see if he can limit it". And on offense bunts to get just that one run.

His style of play is exactly why we give up big innings and hardly have them. It's fucking archaic thinking.

The 9th inning on Monday didn't have to be blown that wide open, and today, 4 runs is terrible in that inning.

Like you said, yeah, not his fault Belisario/League are his only options and they blew it. Props to him for realizing that his 2 days ago closer is a piece of shit reliever. But man, that shit blew open wider than I don't even have a good analogy for it.

 

Donnie's been dealt a shit hand with injuries and players not performing, but he makes a lot of bad decisions in game where he makes every situation worse.
