    Michael Young Clears Waivers
By Steve Adams [August 8 at 9:21am CST]

Michael Young has cleared revocable waivers and can now be traded to any team, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter link). Young has a full no-trade clause will still be a factor should Philadelphia attempt to move him. Peter Gammons of the MLB Network was the first to tweet that Young was on waivers earlier this morning.

Young, 36, is hitting .276/.343/.404 with eight home runs in his first season with the Phillies. Prior to the non-waiver trade deadline, reports indicated that the veteran infielder was willing to waive his no-trade clause for a return to the Rangers or a trade to the Red Sox or Yankees. The Red Sox and Yankees were both heavily linked to Young, though neither team was able to strike a deal in July.

Young is the first player this month to have reportedly cleared waivers. He's earning $16MM this year, though the Rangers are on the hook for $10MM of that salary following his offseason trade to Philadelphia.

[IMG] Matt Kemp, Carl Crawford or Andre Ethier, Dodgers: They have an outfield surplus, given the emergence of Yasiel Puig, and rival evaluators believe that one in this trio is going to be moved.

Kemp is owed the most money -- $128 million for the next six seasons -- but a healthy Kemp has the most left to offer, at age 28. Crawford will be in Year 4 of his seven-year, $142 million deal in 2014. Ethier will be owed a little more than $70 million on his deal after this season. As one evaluator notes, one of these players could be a candidate for a bad contract-for-bad contract trade, for someone like Cole Hamels, who has a 3.87 ERA in 23 starts.

Crawford or Ethier for Hamels would be a steal IMO.

No way in hell the Phillies do that trade for either Carl or Dre. Then again, you never know what the fuck they'll do with idiot Amaro running things over there. :smh:

So hamels has some bad luck early in the season AND is bottom 5 in run support and all of a sudden he's a bad contract?nevermind the fact that he's busted his ass to get his era under 4...buster olney has officially entered peter gammons territory this year.

well Crawford is our leadoff guy, so he's not going anywhere unless they find a better one. and Kemp is flat out better than Ethier, who frequently has lapses against lefties and now is struggling to hit @ home. so it's gonna be Ethier gettin traded if it's anybody. you can get more for Kemp, but it won't be anything that can help us right now and " right now " is pretty important to this ownership group.

if i must trade one i'd propose Ethier for Sabathia. right now is the time to buy low on Sabathia. he wanted to be a Dodger anyway, but McCourt wouldn't pay up. bring CC home and see if he can be fixed. Ethier would probably get back to hittin 25 or so HRs in the Yanks' bandbox with the short porch in right

It was only a matter of time before someone ran navarros fat ass over. Dude puts his whole body in front of the plate and just sits there. Lets see if he changes his plate blocking ways from here on out.

Dodgers missed out on a mega history making moment. They traded away Ethan Martin and he became the first Ethan to ever win a game in the major leagues.

Trade does almost make sense except:
1)the rays outfield is set already
2)idk if the rays would take puig's contract financially
3)the dodgers lose lots of revenue from" puigmania"
