I haven't made a conclusion one way or the other. I'm stating an opinion based on the fact, as you mentioned, all of his experience has been in a small market. I also couple that with the fact that his mentor, Sandy Alderson, has also only been in small markets.

In my opinion, you and a few others are making the mistake of associating Billy Beane to "1 job" instead of recognizing that Beane only knows a certain way of doing things based on his career path and wisdom given to him by his mentor.

Aside from all that, I also enjoyed pointing out that he inherited the pitching staff that allowed him to be successful in the early part of his tenure. The offensive stars under him, specifically Tejada and Giambi, were both steroid users. So when you subtract that from his track record, he really hasn't been all that successful. So, in my opinion, I think the Dodgers can do better than Beane and I'd like to see them do better than Beane.

I was just wondering if Mattingly can even play Beane Ball in that scenario. Maybe Beane would need someone else in there, IDK.

But, yeah, I suppose another season out of Mattingly is justified - to give him a fair shake. See what he can do with less chaos (we hope). Not sure what his contract is. I'd want to keep Wallach around just in case you need to fire him, though.

Is the Ned contract still unknown? I remember it was a great secret at one time. I would hope you wouldn't have to resort to personal threats and public humiliation to get rid of him.

That's right, the mystery contract. Maybe Ned will be our GM afterall.

Mysteries swirl about Ned...his contract, his player signings, his sexual preference, his moustache...all fodder for the faithful.
    He is Wakan Tanka.
