Way too many wasted pitches against bottom of the lineup slappies.

I know watching him it feels like the Dodgers dodged a bullet not signing him.

He makes league minimum, so I think any team was going to gladly sign him if they could, and his bat has more than supported that cheap salary. But I don’t see where a guy who can’t field a position would fit on the current Dodgers roster. The DH is too valuable for resting guys and for getting guys like Seager ABs while recovering from injury.

I always thought the idea that Ohtani could walk in and easily be a 2-way player was optimistic, if not insulting to how hard MLB is. He’s done better than I thought, so hats off for that, but the injury problems are not surprising. He was having injury issues in Japan too. You have to be an amazing hitter to justify being a full time DH... or you just need to play for the Angels, I guess.

it is funny to sweep this weekend and spend each game resting some starters

We’ve only allowed more than 5 runs twice, and those were 2 games where the Padres scored 6 runs.

Including today, we’ve scored more than 5 runs 12 times. In 23 games.

and there’s still plenty of room for improvement! Cody can get hot... Muncy can keep things going... Joc hasn’t gotten on a streak. Enrique has been nonexistent. Our catchers have been shaky. Lux can come up and help, just exciting

although of course I don’t expect Pollock to keep this up, Mookie can slump, and our bench might take some hits but still, wow

my biggest concern at moment is probably the starting pitching. It hasn’t been bad or anything but it just seems like a lot of guys pitching like #3s

No one is really going deep into games in seems like, except Kershaw a couple days ago, but no one also seems to be giving up a bunch of runs except Buehler.

I read a blurb somewhere attributing Barnes' recent uptick in hitting to mentoring from Mookie. This is the reason that I'm cautiously optimistic about the long and very large financial commitment the team made to him, and thrilled that we had bowed out of the Machado sweepstakes. Forget the fact that Betts is currently #1 in WAR among all MLB players while Manny finds himself 73rd on the list. It's the intangibles that will drive more team wins. One motivates teammates and helps others become better, ... the other jogs out grounders to the infield. Well done, Dodgers.
