Machado VS Boston, a bit of beef between these 2 over the last few seasons, should be a great watch Almost .900 OPS @ Fenway this year, about .800 for his career .840 OPS VS Boston over the last 2 seasons He should be ready to go
Maybe the World Series will inspire Johnny Hustle to run hard for the first 90 feet around the bases.
Machado's got a shot @ 250MM+ coming his way this offseason and that hasn't inspired him to play the way you want him to, so don't hold your breath
They'll have to make due with Machado's team leading .813 OPS thus far in the post Next best guy among the everyday starters - Turner @ .739
He truly is a gifted and smart player. It’s a shame his weird attitude is wrapped up in that package. But where the hell did that bunt come from? It was a perfect bunt that even Brett Butler was jealous of. Good on Manny though. A big bunt hit, he also turned a good double play that not all SS’s make.
What a great feeling waking today and remembering that the Dodgers performed in the clutch yesterday and get to move on. We may be overmatched by Boston, and they may crush us. But there's zero chance of winning the WS without getting to the WS. I kind of like playing the David role to Goliath. It worked in '88. And history does tend to repeat itself, at times.
Not just cause it was the clincher but that felt like the most well rounded victory of the whole series Glad a lot of you were wrong on your predictions
read somewhere he made it to 1b in 4 seconds flat on the bunt, which (supposedly) was his fastest time of the year.
Last night was also nice because Puig had a solid night as our starting RF Good fielding and clutch hitting. And the HR to the absolute deepest part of their stadium slammed closed the door Puig plays the game like a kid. In a good way. He gets excited, he shows disappointment and he blows simple plays trying to be a hero. And then the next days he IS the hero. Again. At bat or with his cannon arm. And then the day after his cabbage head costs us. Se la guerre. He has been making fierce contact for awhile but mostly right at people. Still he's getting better at crushing the ball more and getting fooled stupidly a bit less. and the thought of both Puig and Bellinger getting hot right about now gives me shivers
Kinda surprised Belli won MVP when Puig hit better and collected 4 RBIs, same as Cody. It's cuz Cody's white, isn't it?
I was going to comment the same thing last night. Puig really came through during this series. Would have been nice for him to get it. Belli hit .200 during the LCS but still put his stamp on the series I suppose. Walk-off hit, go-ahead HR, huge defensive play in extra innings, etc.
still thinking about Counsell letting Jeffres, who looked like shit all series, blow the game open when Knebel, Woodruff, and Soria were still available. Counsell got praise for his proactiveness but that was awful. It wasn't necessarily a bad pitch to Puig or anything to be fair, but still.
