Here is what Ned is thinking. For this year we get AGon and Beckett. We come out like this: Victorino/Ethier/Kemp/Agon/Hanley/Cruz/Ellis/Ellis/P Our rotation goes to Kershaw/Bills/Capuano/Beckett/Harang-Blanton For the next three years, we have Dee/Ethier/Kemp/AGon/Hanley/Crawford/Ellis/Ellis/P Over the course of time, Ellis and Ellis get replaced by prospects. It is a shit ton of money. But, apparently, we have it to blow. I am thinking that we may be seeing a trade next year where Dee is traded to the Sox for cash considerations or a player to be named later. Because he has not cleared waivers, he cannot be traded. This way we do not have to work to acquire a hitter in the shitty FA markets of 13 and 14. We can concentrate on pitching in both. I could very well be wrong but Ned could be stockpiling overpriced players to help now and then to spin later for younger players as our own develop. We may eat some money later but you have to think that outside of Crawford most can be moved with a little creativity. Hey, the Angels bought V Wells.
I'm so stoked to get AGon and not see Loney again. The rest is just not sitting well with me...but we'll have to wait and see the final trade.
Jeff PassanVerified @JeffPassan The deal may not go down in its current nine-player form, but something is expected to happen. Reply Retweet Favorite
Holy shit, this is huge. Chris, IB, Grizz, MZA, whoever else I have on FB, can you message me if anything else happens? I have to go back to a school event in 30 minutes
I agree. I hope we don't have to do the Crawford thing. Was Dre scratched from the lineup? I will hate the deal if that happens
I just read there are two different deals on the table...one with just Beckett and Gonzalez and one with them all
