    The offense is abysmal.
What ever it was, it has morphed into a weak and flaccid non- entity to an alarming level, imo. Post season, you know...
I can't see how anyone is confident and feels good about moving up to better teams and pitching with this putrid excuse for O we are witnessing against Milwaukee.
Dissecting both games, the first was won by a meltdown by Suter, who did something he hasn't done all year. Gifts all around. Actually the offense, hitting wise, sucked in the first inning.
Sure, Seager hit a long HR late, but what did he do earlier when he came up with RISP ? Nothing. There are multiple slumping zeroes in the lineup, and against a team with below.500 mediocrity. Alarming.
And last night, only a short throw and a playing out of position Gyorko non scoop allows us to win...Mookie came through, indeed, but shouldn't have really ever got to the plate. Out of the 7 runs we scored in two games, how many were earned runs ? Where's the ML leading HR power? I just don't think we knock other team' s staffs around, when we barely hit the Brewers at all, and got all the luck we needed, fortunately.
Our pitching has been superlative, and to expect it to maintain the level it showed against the Brewers, a team people here are scoffing at as unworthy, is unrealistic.
Maybe the dragon will show itself, and roar again...but I don't see it against the other more complete staffs of the teams we could face.
    Not at this present level.
Against the Braves staff? The Yankees? The Rays? Marlins?
    I just can't see it.

Bellinger with the biggest hit of the night, to get the rally started. I feel like he could hit .500 with that slow little swing where he just guides it over the infield.

Yeah, he takes his madman HR cut once an AB, then he turns into Ichiro with attempts at guide dog type hits...
I guess there should be little complaining on a team that led bb in HR ( in the REGULAR SEASON), but is anybody, like batting coaches, looking seriously at his approach at the plate ?

General question (mostly for @ColoradoKidWitGame and @blazer5 and any other tactical posters herein) ...

Have there been any attempts to drag bunt away from the shift in any playoff game yet? I assume not, and if so, why the eff not?

I mean ... I know I'm out of touch with the modern game and all that, but I always thought the object was to get on base. And with the way Muncy and Belli have NOT been hitting .. why in the blue f**k not give it a try? It can't be worse than the shit-sammy that is most of their respective at-bats?

Pederson squared up to bunt on one pitch last night (ultimately pulled back, but it was still nice to see someone show bunt). I'm surprised that Bellinger, with his speed, hasn't tried adding a bunt or slap hit to his repertoire.

If you want a counter argument for not worrying about the shift, I do feel like the second half of the season we had a lot of balls hit into the shift that beat the shift.

And if you want an image that will drive you crazy, here is a picture of the Dodgers shifting on the A's this season (Olson did not try to bunt and struck out):

It's sad that today's professional baseball player doesn't have the skill set to push a bunt up into that empty expanse.

He could get a guaranteed double out of that.
