    Can't fault them for sitting him from these two games - sounds like a no-brainer. It's like the NFL team that can play the guy who's missed the last three weeks, but because the following week is a bye, they sit him one more game and he gets extra time to fully recover. Would rather see Mookie at 100% in ten days for the home opener.

    should have never let him get on the plane in the first place
    but i’m guessing the conversation went something like this…

    Roberts: “Hey Mook, I did a lot of thinking and I think it would be best if you didn’t travel with the team to Japan. As manager, I have to decide what’s best for the team. You’re sick so it’s best if you stayed home and rested. So that’s my call, and my decision is final.”
    Mookie: “Nah, fuck dat… I’m going!”
    Roberts: “Okay Mookie, you know what’s best. I’ll get your luggage.”

    Mookie is smart. He knows he's smarter than Scarecrow - which I realize is a low bar of praise. He knows if he says 'I'm playing/I'm NOT playing' - it is so. He's more important than Roberts. The front office knows it. My cat knows it.

    He got sick somewhere in SoCal & probably hoped it was a 24 hr thing. But I've had food poisoning & it's the worst. It's also 24-30 hrs of misery - not 5-7 days and 15 pounds. So whatever he had/has ... it's a bunch worse than a bad oyster.

    15 pounds when Mookie had MAYBE 10 pounds of body fat ... that's ominous.
