Good idea... you should wear the jumpsuit & cape around town. You'd set a trend.

When is the last time we had a lockdown closer ? Kenley, I guess...
Is there a chance of Treinen returning ? Or is he out for eternity plus, too ?

There are options & hopefully - despite managerial ineptitude - the pen will self adjust.

    There's no reason that a healthy Kopech/Scott/Yates can't tri-anchor this bully until a HEALTHY Treinen/Graterol/Philips can return.

I know. That's a lot of IFS. but then it's hard to imagine any team in baseball with over 220 lost games of pitchers on the IL in June that are still in first place.

Also ... did y'all know this was still a thing?

Couldn't tell if you're referring to their return this year or ever, but Phillips is out until at least late 2026 and more likely 2027.

Yes, very cool of the Dodgers to do this every year. They're keeping him on the payroll so that he has medical insurance, which he very much needs to survive his mental health issues.

Didn't know Evan was that injured. Well shit ...

Anyway ... tons of IFS but maybe Kopech will be our Goose Gossage through October....

Has there been an official announcement of who's starting tonight? A few hours ago, CBS Sports had Miller. Now they're showing it's Sauer. MLB.com and ESPN are still saying TBD.

A quick google search would show Dave that Kim hit over .300 vs lefties his past two seasons in the KBO.

Kike has had some brutal ABs lately and actually is hitting better vs righties than lefties this season.

Play Kim an entire game FFS

Kenley in 17 was elite until that 0-2 pitch to Marwin Gonzalez....still feel sick thinking about that pitch and series.

If you're gonna make sense, by all means.... stay the fuck away from Roberts. Apparently... everyone in his sphere kisses his AfroAsian ass.

It helped that the prick heard a trashcan thump so he knew the changeup was coming.

That's asking too much of Dave. He doesn't do google nor look at batter vs pitcher history. He definitely can't gauge momentum. All he knows is L vs R and R vs L. Someone once told him about the K.I.S.S. acronym, and he's taken it to heart, believing it was created just for him.

    No Kim... wonderful.

Conforto has 10 RBIs in 182 at bats. Kim has that many in 61.

I keep hearing that Conforto is making good contact and starting to hit. Then why is his June batting average (.130) lower than his season BA (.170)?

I get that they're paying him too much to drop him this early. They'll ultimately need to decide whether to carry him on playoff rosters, and before they can do that, he'll need more ABs. But why not bench him for this series and let him play in games that you're not facing the team you'll potentially be trying to win the division against in late September?

LA has a lousy rep for sticking with their failed FA signings.

I recall Bobby Bo, Brian Jordan, Andrew Jones, Carl Crawford... etc. Now Conforto. And don't get me started on the Jason Schmidt angle ... at least he checked out early with a blown elbow.

Like you say ... Conforto will wane until any benefits the team might get by starting Kim have passed. Meanwhile, LA may be in the WC race by then.

    We'll see

Yeah, and like I said about Conforto, those are some pretty big names with significant salaries so I understand why they weren't cut in the first half of the year. At least more recently with Gallo and to some extent Heyward, they were left off of some playoff rosters when their numbers justified that. But I hate to see Kim's progress being stunted -- how can he be expected to play big in the postseason if he doesn't get regular work now? And then also, again, Conforto's opportunities should not be coming in this series when every game has multifaceted importance.
