I never thought the bullpen was the answer. If he wasn't throwing strikes he belonged in the minors. As a starter he had some margin for error with his walks. Coming out of the pen he doesn't have that.

Have to admit I would have considered deporting him at some point. I know...I know........racist.

A whole lot of Roki, great leather and just enough Freddie.

Just looking at the box score it's easy to say it was just the Angels. Watch the game and it was much more. He was dominant. 10 Ks and just two walks. Hitting his spots with his fastball and his splits and forkball were falling off the table. The young man has arrived.

Defense was spectacular. The Rojas play will make all the highlight reels. Can't understate Freddie's Gumby-like stretch on that play. Freddie also chipped in with a diving play to rob an Angel hitter of a hit. Mookie with the slick glove flip for the third out of an inning. Espinal kept the Angels off the scoreboard with a diving play to his left. Pages cut off a potential double in the right-center field gap. The most underrated

Another frustrating night at the plate for our boys, Freddie aside. Seem to have a knack for these walk offs. Detmers pitched well, but it seems they're tipping their caps to the opposing pitchers more often than they should. Just two ABs with RISP and six hard hit balls (95+).

That was the old Kirby Yates we knew and loved.

Was working out in the yard and knew I'd miss the first inning so I guess I missed the game.

Strange game. Nine runs in the first. Only two hits the rest of the way.

First round knockout for our boys. This was Tyson vs. Michael Spinks.

Once again, quality over quantity. Two HRs for Sho and Pages and a two run double for Ward (just missed a slam).

Offense went into cruise control after the first.

No such gear for Yamamoto. He bore down for eight innings. C0nsumate pro.

Would be nice to finish off the sweep before heading off on the road to play the Pirates and White Sox. Looked like an easy road trip. Not so much now. They're two of the surprise teams in the game.

I watched the ChiSox play the other day. I noticed that Antonacci & Vargas get on base and challenge the pitcher to hold them on. Not hard to beat a shabby Twins team like they did (although the Twins did beat them twice) but - as you say - they are a surprise for sure. Helps having a 1-2 punch at the top of your lineup.

The Bucs - it seems they love to beat LA as much as any rival does. Using StatMuse (Irish & StatMan are getting me into these websites - no homo) ... my memory was vindicated. Bucs have beaten LA 14 out of 25 games since 2022. Meanwhile, Los Fraudres have only beaten LA 22 of 61 games. Frisco is worse - same number of wins but in 65 games.

This comment cracked me up. Seems like DSP isn't the only place where we expect the worst any time Roberts gives medical assessments:

In other words, he broke his neck and he's paralyzed from the neck down. Will be transferred to the 60 day IL in a few days.
