Oh, why did somebody post a link to The Athletic...
The following will be all your fault.

Do you guys want to go next level with DSP and do what The Athletic does but without subscriptions and without big name reporters but with small no name reporters trying to make their bones for free in small local papers writing good articles that we can swipe for a long time before anyone makes a fuss starting with local LA stuff before we move to other markets.

Use our own DSP flavor in headlines. Like there is one in the SGV Tribune where they ask Cody Bellinger if he is afraid of the sophmore slump. He says "Fuck, No". That is not in the headline and the quote bleeps out the fuck part. We change the headline to something Irish-like "Bellinger says FUCK, NO to any idea of a sophomore slump and thinks your a bKitch for asking". Leaving the DSP in-jokes to confound and intrigue new viewers.

Blast that stuff out to social media and at local arenas through automated text message blasts where fans congregate using a real estate tool that is not expensive. Go to the big boards where its easy to poach users. Have interactive events on the site that make it something different than whats out there. By which I mean a form of soft core gambling using the sale of licensed sports gear imported from china as a way to wash our hands of the fact that is gambling. Analytic types call it gamification.

Have most of the content be auto-generated through RSS feeds and then picked apart, re-headlined and promoted to the front page of the website with a few clicks.
Have the work of HoF great Irish transcend DSP and fuck up the lives and dreams of people all over the internet.

DSP would die and a new better DSP would take its place.
    We can build it.
    We have the technology.
It is now all at our fingertips and integration is possible.
    We just need the manpower.
In the past we had young up and comers (behave Irish).
We had old fuckers with a lot of time on their hands who saw this as a hobby and helped get tasks done.
I work too many hours now. I cant work on DSP for hours like I used to, looking at screens after I have spent 9 hours staring at one for work is too much for me right now.
I spent most of my off time gardening and im about to get goats. (relax N.Z)
    I need help.
Craig helps fund this place and Irish is the heart and soul.
The rest of us are the blood and guts.
Some of us are the mouth diarrhea... but that's ok, some people are into that sort of thing.
All this stuff is crazy cheap now.
Some of you guys have time on your hands or money in your pocket.
You spend a ton of time here or you have in the past.

    We have an unfinished job.
To spread our special form of Magic Aids all over the world.
Or at least to the greater Southern California area.
From Barstow to Tijuana and everywhere in between.

    Viva!

We got lots of talented fucking guys come through here.
We have a new crop of guys who I want to be featured writers, who already provide high level analysis all the time here.
You guys know who you are.
    Yall deserve your own bylines.
If you can entertain me and make me appreciate the way you think on paper then you have hidden gold at the end of your rainbow.
Which just means that you can do the same for many others as well.
Damn this new coffee im getting at sprouts is some powerful shit.

seems like it has you excited and thats a good thing
its your vision and website like we've talked about in the past
personally i think it needs to stay that way whatever direction you want to go
if you are going to ask Irish or whoever else to really drive it i would assume a paycheck would come w that
agree there are some guys w excellent analysis and also well, it doesn't really matter if it draws interest
over the years i feel like we lost a lot guys w different types of talent for different reasons
we get a new guy here and there and thats great but its not really growing
not that that's really a bad thing tbh but unlike a lot of guys i embrace change so set the table hefe

I might just be tired... But I have no idea what you are talking about, Rube. Are we plagerizing content and calling it our own? Are we writing our own articles? Are we growing the forum? Are we raffling off knock-off merch?

It seems all over the place. Just a bit.

Getting ahead of myself per usual... How bout a new name?
The best choice would be a classy domain like sportsnote.com
Ita also available as sportsnotes.com which mihht be better off the tongue.

Account.net is also surprisingly available. I will buy this for another use.
    Fuck you Zuckerberg.

Sportsbane.com kind of works on the level that sports can sometimes suck.
In that vein fucksports.org is there
A non profit organization for when your team loses the championship.

They get worse. I wanted something off color if we want to go anti classy but sportsload.com was taken.
Sportstool.com is available and it works in many ways.
And there is always sportsjock.com and other athletic support type puns.

And since i cant help myself...
    E is e.
    ES is s.
    PEE is p.
    EN is n.

    EESPEEEN.COM

Question: will the site get really big? Right now my work blocks sports websites, but (somehow) DSP stays under the radar and is unblocked.

Now, if the site covers financial news as well, then I can make a case that this site must stay unblocked because I use it for work.

If a paper puts an entire article on the rss feed then they are fair game, but we arent trying to plagiarize. Most put a good chunk then link back home. That is good.
We feed these articles to the forum but they come in closed and in moderation. A member with mod powers can then use that as a springboard.
The article wont be published if there is no member with something to say about it.
They are simply there to spark one of us into action/reaction/thought/analysis/joke/commentary/mock, etc...
After a 24 hour span whatever new thread is not taken out of the moderation queue or edited by a member will delete itself.
The idea is to take that blurb and give an opinion on it. Have it be the basis of a new piece of writing large or small by one of our members.
It could be something as simple as what Irish does. Quoting a story then posting a funny picture and his funny take on the situation and then serving it up to the rest of us to comment.
It is repurposing others content sure, but it's not unethical.

We are also writing our own articles. Each member can write their own articles. Short and sweet or long and hard. A few guys here would be good at this and they can do it at their own pace. That is why the repurposed content is there. I know we cant except lots of original articles, especially early. Repurposed content will prop things up.
Plenty of guys here have their own unique voice. They will have their own corner to expand on that voice as frequently or infrequently as they want.

It is not about growing the forum as an end goal. I believe that will come though.

I like games. There will be games. And merch. Not knock off. Most everything is made in China/India pretty much. Importing licensed stuff. And unlicensed stuff that does not infringe. Does the billboard urging LeBron to join the Lakers infringe on anything?

It is all over the place. Its Pantastic!

    Really big?
Probably not. Unless it does. Then thats one of those good problems to have.
DSP probably does not get blocked because its a forum.
We will continue to be a forum. But one that evolves with the way people consume this stuff.
Lots of us use phones or other devices now. Less and less computers.
We work all day on computers and having to sit at a desk on your off time is not always fun.

Financial news. Yes. In a way. And all kidns of other things.
Depends on the person writing the article.
I know I want to get into lots of non sports themes.
Even if they just have a tangential tie to sports. Not necessary for it to tie to sports at all if its compelling.

We still cover the Dodgers. Each member is free to start a thread about any team, sport, or topic.
Every thread will have its prefix. And any user is free to click on the Dodgers prefix and get a rundown of just threads prefixed as Dodgers related. They can then bookmark that and it becomes their personal homepage for the site. There is a way to allow you to see a page that lists only threads that are relevant to your niche. If users just want to see Dodgers threads then that is all they will see unless they go somewhere else through the menu or click on something in a sidebar that shows other content or click on a members avatar and get a page with all their content.

I am a sellsword. I can help you prepare.

    Exactly.
We need to do stuff that is fun, but only if its still fun for the guy doing it.
If its now rote and Irish is over doing them then its not fun.
People change over time and get bored of one thing. This is good because it spurs them to try something new that might be even more enjoyable.
Irish does all kinds of stuff that cracks us all up.

When I say that Irish is the heart and soul I dont mean I want people to do what Irish does. To copy him.
I will compare him to Jesus.
Jesus is the unique son of god and we should be like Jesus.
Jesus was cool. He did a lot of cool things.
So people assume we need to copycat Jesus and do the same things he did and be carbon copies.
But Jesus was unique. He is the unique son of god.
Moral of the story is to be like Jesus is to be unique in the most positive sense.
Irish is unique. He wont be the same Irish in 3 years as he was 3 years ago.
That makes him timeless and never changing.
He never changes. He is always Irish, even when he changes.
    Ya dig?
