Yeah I think the players are just shitty baserunners to be honest, so they don't have them steal a lot. You got to be successful about 75% of the time for it to be worthwhile and I don't think we have a player who I could confidently say would be that successful

    Tonight's Dodger lineup vs. Giants:
    Toles CF
    Seager SS
    Turner 3B
    Grandal C
    González 1B
    Bellinger LF
    Puig RF
    Utley 2B
    Kershaw P

Dammit, I don't like Utley starting over Enrique or Taylor.

Yeah buddy its the "or something" part which rhymes with "3 rings in five years."

Pull off that stunt and people STFU for a while.
Measure distance between rings in terms of portions of a century and you have to expect flack

    we earned it

Ryu is on the 10 day DL. He's diagnosed with "the Dodgers currently have 6 starting pitchers who should be on the big club but it's not ideal to have 6 so we should put one on the DL to take advantage of the situation and lessen injury risk meanwhile only having Ryu miss 1 start"

    Smart.
Unless you have a top base stealing talent who also takes as much pride in his steal percentage as in his steals total.
And then I would use it more for the desired outcome of fucking with certain types of pitchers than the desired outcome of a steal. Fucking with the pitchers concentration is a more desired outcome than the extra base. If they come together though its a bonus.

Moneyball is all about min/max your players abilities. Like when building a character in a role playing game. Putting any points into Strength on your Elven Ranger who will use bows and daggers exclusively is a complete waste of an attribute point if ranged weapons and small arms are not Strength but Dexterity based. If you do because you want to have high enough strength so your Ranger can wield a greatsword once in a while if attacked by a melee (while doing puny damage due to low strength and skill and waiting for luck to proc a critical hit or something) instead of 1 being vigilant of keeping your character out of melee range at all times, and 2 not invest enough points in a run/evade skill, and 3 not having a good proccing dagger that can allow you to fight toe to toe for a little bit while you wait for a good proc that allows you to get away. But trying to make a Ranger semi passable as a toe to toe swordsman with his secondary weapon while still keeping him a leather armor wearing bow and arrow wielder is a recipe for a totally nerfed character.
You would be more valuable to a squad as a long range sniper who put all his points into his bow skills and none on defensive measures or secondary modes of attack.
Just a sniper who is hard to find and racks up loads of kills until he is found and quickly taken out.
And in support of a group he is nearly unstoppable. And since most of these games are team games like baseball how everyone fits together skill/attribute wise is very important.

Or think outside the box and make your ranger have only the most rudimentary bow skills and have him be an all out Samurai with the sword who is excellent against soft targets and who can outmaneuver heavy fighters to stay alive and bob and weave/pick and roll/sac and bunt their way home.

I bet these baseball nerds grew up playing and dissecting the mechanics of role playing games.

Taylor's a natural shortstop and it shows because he's done some shaky work at 2B thus far defensively.
I don't know if I'd just insert him there everyday while Forsythe is out either if I were Doc.
His bat is definitely hot though [no homo]

Toles had 60+ stolen bases one year back in Tampa's system.
I dunno, who knows why LAD doesn't run more, but they've been station to station in general since Dee left

It's the end of my work week and Dodgers baseball vs these MF'ers could top it off. The Jim Beam is flowing and the positive waves rolling.....
