I don't dispute most of what you write. But again, I think you are placing too much on the youngsters panning out. It wouldn't surprise me if Joc is out of the league in two or three years. Out of Urias. De Leon and Holmes, I will be surprised if we hit better than 1 out of 3.
Again where I say move prospects for proven players

And you may be right. But that is only the first wave of prospects. The idea is for that "ocean" to produce wave after wave, to sustain the orginization with minimum FA investment. Time will tell. But the "WIN NOW!!!" crowd doesn't seem to have time.

    agree wholeheartedly
could have dealt some of them at the deadline to get hamels

    time?
    i've got plenty
but a guy like kershaw... his clock is ticking

  4. Grade them? How about a fucking fail. Which is how I would grade all you jerks as posters.

What good would Hamels have done, if you can't win with Kershaw and Grienke then you can't win.

I don't believe management is trying to time a championship to any one player. It would be great if we won while Kershaw is in his prime, but then again, I don't really give a fuck who we win with, as long as we win. It would be nice if we won with Gonzo, or Ethier, or anybody else for that matter.

This is where I will dispute with you. If we had Hamels, we avoid the Game 3 scenario with Mets where we had to pitch Anderson/Wood.
Now to engage in some wild speculation, Hamels goes out for Game 3 with the series tied 1-1, and pitches one of the greatest games in post-season history, a perfect game with 15 strikeouts, crushing the Mets spirit. Now Kershaw, instead of having to pitch for the Dodgers season, goes out and steps on the Mets throats, sending the Dodgers into the World Series. Riding the best starting 3 in baseball, the Dodgers go on to crush KC in the World Series, ending the drought at 26 years.
Could it have happened? We don't know because our front office didn't go for it while our window of opportunity was open

Secondly, how much better of a position would we be in today if we had Cole locked up as a 1-2 with Clayton right now, instead of our current situation of Clayton and 4 question marks.

    yeah, no
kersh, zack and hamels would have made a huge difference
    i'll give anderson credit...
he pitched his ass off as best as he could
but he is not, in any way shape or form, a #3
dovetailing on ferrari's response, it would have allowed you to match up much better against the mets -- or anyone else for that matter

he's the best starting pitcher in baseball
if you're going to build a team around anyone, it should be have been him
by going into prospect acquisition/rebuild mode you're essentially wasting 2, 3, 4, 5??? years of his prime
had they traded for hamels and kept greinke, i would have zero complaints -- even with the other areas needing improvement

Good post...please understand, I don't want to minimize it in any way...but this should be so painfully fucking obvious to everyone involved, it's a goddam shame.
How often do opportunities come along with players like these on your roster and others available when you can readily afford them?
The main reason for me why this "future uber alles" is a mistake. And considering the brilliance, no reason why both couldn't be handled comfortably...but I guess it's too much for them.

The problem with this is an F should be resulting in not making the playoffs. I could understand a lot of people rating the FO a C for "meh", but Dodger fans have felt so entitled since 2012 it's crazy.

Kershaw and Grienke each got beat in that series, the chances of Cole getting beat as well were equally good. Sure, he might have won but there is just a good of a chance he might not. As for your wild speculation, in your scenario Kershaw would send us into the NCLS, not the World Series. But I get what you mean.

Now I go for the wild speculation. Hamels pitches game 3 and gets his ass handed to him. While trying to pitch out of another jam he over-extends and his shoulder pops. His career is through, but the Dodgers are still on the hook for $70 plus million dollars, while Urias and Joc, who that fuck Amaro demanded in return along with a handful of other prospects, go on to have Hall of Fame careers in Philly and they go to the World Series in 2019.

Could it have happened? Thank Scully we don't know because we didn't go for it and we still have our farm intact, keeping with the plan set forth when the team changed hands.

As for better position, maybe. But it's Kershaw and 2 question marks, not 4. We know we have Anderson and Wood. We don't know how Ryu comesback or who takes over McCarthy's spot. Say we did get Hamels, how motivated would the FO have been to retain Grienke? Probably less than they were, which wasn't enough anyway.

But why shouldn't they feel entitled...at least somewhat? The Dodgers are, what...in the top 3 teams in bb as far as money...tops in the NL in attendance...got the top ( sorry had) two pitchers in the cosmos ( don't want to to get into an Arrieta thing), very good lineup...and went out and got the best, smartest, most brilliant FO guys in the game we were told...for what, then? It's not reasonable to expect them to do what they need to...entitlement if you want/need to call it that? What's the difference what it is called? I don't get it...
Not to mention, when was the last taste of the championship? 27 years ago is feeling entitlement ?

Dodger fans are turning into Yankee fans. FO can only do so much, the players have to play.

Well, I see where you are headed, and I do get it. But the Yanks won once in a while, and they never had anything near Clayton and Greinke. And they played pretty damn good, if not best. Why shouldn't they expect at least that again? Big $, genius FO, top attendance...why should they think small?
I think it's OK that fans, no matter what team, feel the guys in charge need to go out and make the team a winner...every year, without fail.

I have high expectations as well, first round exits aren't going to cut it for this franchise, but I also realize that baseball is a bitch and that shit happens.

Even though I've agreed with most of what the FO has done, I can totally understand people giving them a C rating. But a flat out F is just crazy to me.

Can you really give credit for the dodgers making the playoffs to the current front office? IMO, this team has only gone downhill since Friedman and Zaidi came on board and the F is justified.

This is based on the season so far? Sorry F but there is still time to improve the team and it's a little early to say the teams gone downhill. We have been weakened by Zacks betrayal.

I think they overachieved last year with the home runs and I was happily surprised that Anderson didn't fall apart like the other pitchers they signed. Most of what they did was questionable. Grandal was good but Ellis was better at the end. Trading Dee was inexcusable considering the situation at 2B now. McCarthy was what everyone expected, Rollins had character and not much else. The deadline stuff? Holy fucking shit! Everyone, and I mean everyone knew we'd never get past the division series again, which is unacceptable.

Zach didn't betray anyone. Zach is a self-admitting whore and we were only the third longest John at the curb. End of story.

    This.

Even when Zach joined us he said it point blank it was because we offered the most money.
