I think your guys front office deserves an A. They've had to make do with a lot of excess payroll for guys like Carl Crawford that will be coming off the books the next two years. They clearly didn't want to get back into that situation which is why they didn't go after a lot of the big names. Those big contracts are always a gamble. Jason Heyward has sucked for us.

I'm willing to give the front office 5 years, 3 to go. I understand a plan is hard to execute in 1-2 years. But they have access to the largest payroll in MLB, $100+ million higher than 20 teams. They have what people tell me is the best farm system in baseball, largely inherited. The goal has to be nothing short of a WS win. If the goal is "make the playoffs, and hope we win the crapshoot" then that is unacceptable. So right now an F, or Incomplete if it's more palatable. I honestly don't see the plan that gets us over the hump. But I'll still be excited for Dodger baseball next year. I might even write a narrative of why moves x, y, and z will lead to a championship. I might even believe it. Like the famous quote from Memento "Do I lie to myself to be happy?" For 5 years I might. Then on to the next futile plan so I can pretend some more.

I like Mouse's idea. I'd rather give a grade of incomplete rather than an A or a F. But if we're grading based off of comparing them to other FOs around baseball, I would say they're above average.
